That's got absolutely nothing to do with it.
Correct it is an expensive handset, but if this is the cheapest it's available then it's hot.
As a comparison, if brand new BMW was £50k from one dealer but £45k from another dealer, would that still be cold?
If a Justin Bieber tribute album retailed at £15, and it was selling at £10 from another retailer, would that be hot?
Yes - thats the whole point - it isnt whether YOU think a deal is good or not, from a personal perspective, its whether its a deal or not. I would not in a million years buy a justin bieber album but if someone found an album that was £20 everywhere else for £5 then that is a HOT DEAL.
No.
There is a difference between something being cheap and being a hot deal.
If this was simply a list of items and where they are available the cheapest, it would be called something else. And you could automate that process, no need for user input.
People can vote however they want. If they don't think this phone represents value for money at £449, then they can vote accordingly.

As for what's hot and what's not, as I understand it, this site is not about comparisons between products. It's about what's the best price for a particular product. End of story. Yes other phones might be cheaper or better value, and yes some people vote cold because of that, but that's not how it's supposed to work. Leave those opinions for discussions in the threads, not for your choice of vote.

Yes. Now if it were £35K, then that would probably constitute a hot deal. A hot deal is something that makes you go "Wow! That's cheap!" or "What a hot deal" (nobody actually speaks like that, I know).
Admittedly I got it on a contract and didn't pay out £500 in one go and yes £500 (or even £450) is a lot of money but it is one seriously good phone and well worth the money in my opinion

I think you have got it right there.
I look at this deal and think it should have retailed at £399, and be heading towards £349 by the end of summer, so at this price level I could never consider it a hot deal even if it is the cheapest it has ever been!

The SGII is still an ace phone, i guess that's why the prices are still holding up. Only a few consumer product designs happen to be just 'right' but the SGII is one of them. Just bought a Nexus 7 with the Tesco/quidco discounts and for the forseeable l dont see myself wanting a phone with a larger screen than the SGII. Depends on your requirements of course. Although the SGIII is a fine phone, i'd certainly recommend the SGII/Nexus 7 combo as worthy of consideration.
