I would personally choose S3 Mini over Moto G, Unless its the new Moto G 4G
Let you decide here: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Motorola-Moto-G,Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-mini/phones/8208,7536

S3 mini is as sh*t disobedient phone , has 1gb of ram ? No, more like 800mb of which the OS tends to use atleast 400mb-600mb making for a phone that lags even when its empty. Worst mobile purchase I've ever made.

The only issue is that the S3 Mini is a bit crap, other than that, get it over the Moto G :p

Seriously though, the S3 Mini is not a great phone, and yes the Moto G gets harped on about all the time but it is the much better performing phone with a much better screen.

Moto G is way better with an HD display and a beautiful design. S3 mini is garbage.

Didnt say I make them , this phone is half arsed and half of its specs are a lie , jesus you cant even see the bloody screen in a bit of sun even though it has an almond screen ! This phone was nothing but a marketing trick off the S3's back and a poor one at that.

.did u install the latest firmware atleast my iphone 4 is much faster now more like ios 6 and i think its still much better than moto G.

are these locked to carrier? Would buy one if i can use my existing sim (different carrier) in it or if they can be unlocked easily.

Moto G aside, if you have exactly £90 to spend then the Moto E would be a much better buy. Better build quality, cleaner software, latest Android OS version and generally better hardware.

When it comes to cheaper Android phones, the Moto and Nexus series are the best options right now

Moto G is much better spec than Mini and much faster, I bought one unlocked to take away with me and one for my girlfriend there, just as fast as my S3 LTE , and battery on Moto G lasts far longer. 4G was not missed, I have 4G on my S3. MOTO G all the way over the S3 Mini

A price comparable Moto G doesn't have expandable storage, therefore it is not a 'better' spec. It's a different spec. It's faster... but it ain't better. It just has different priorities (speed and screen above all else).

If the Moto E had 8GB of internal storage I think it would be a tough call, but with only 4GB you're going to have less than 2GB available to the user, and with moving apps to SD being more restricted with recent Android versions that's a problem.

It doesn't really offer anything over the S3 mini except OS support, and it's hideous.

unfortunately i have one (S3 mini); fortunately is for and from work; unfortunately is still rubbish
no matter how cheap is, put that little money towards a better phone; anything better! you're not going to buy a phone after 6 months are you? save yourself the the money and the time and get something decent!
i only posted this to share my experience; if you care to listen (read actually) you won't get this. if you don't, i will tell you "i hate to say this, but i told you so!"
in this case, samsung is misspelled; instead of "ung" they probably intended "hit"

Actually, the Moto E has a feature that allows you to move apps to micro SD:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/99010/p/30,6720,9146

The S3 mini doesn't have this feature so you are stuck with 4.5GB due to the bloatware eating up a chunk of that 8GB.

Besides that, the Moto E actually beats the S3 mini in pretty much every respect... Better screen, better battery life, faster CPU, better OS support, faster more stable system software due to minimal bloat (there are A LOT of complaints about the S3 mini if you google its forums).

I'm not trying to bash Samsung,... In fact I am a proud owner of the S2, S3 and currently use an S4. Having said that, their 'mini' line is just not up to standard

I am not expert in this, however, to my knowledge, moving apps to SD depends on O/S. And I think from 4.1 onwards (Jelly Bean, Kit Kat) moving apps to SD is not possibility.

That is true it got disabled at OS level from 4.1 and the Moto E released with 4.4 KitKat. Motorola have custom software to enable it. Not sure how it works but I believe they create a partition on the SD card that acts as an extension of the internal memory (I know that is how how root workarounds do it anyway).

The new moto g does have a sd slot though

My Iocean x7 allows me to move apps to the sdcard , Android V 4.2.2

I was leaning towards the S3 mini for its pocketable size. MotoG is just that tiny bit big for me.
Can anyone recommend a better phone around the S3 mini size??
