Vodaphone use the same network as O2 so if you have signal problems with O2 you will with voda. If O2 is ok voda should be

you should not talk about stuff you know nothing about

      Nice.
Tempted by this, but unsure whether to give Vodafone a go - never been with them before, my Dad was and he has mixed views.

Not sure whether to wait a few more months, let some of the bugs be ironed out and keep an eye out for a better deal with more data. Hmm...

I've got an S2 and can upgrade in August. Will be looking at deals longingly until then, hoping they come down in price before then!

I went for this contract on the S2 (Free phone instead of £189)... Went into store to see if they could do it immediately rather than order it in. They couldn't but matched the deal through their web matching team and agreed to pay the cashback directly by cheque which removed the risk of TCB.

my upgrade comes up next monday ...talk about perfect timing ....if O2 can't give me a cracking deal to stay with them i'm leaving ...plenty of good deals going at moment

      Not quite true!

The network that Vodafone use is completely separate to O2's, but both companies have access to the same frequency bands , which is shown in the following PDF (http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultations/spectrumlib/annexes/annex6.pdf).

      Vodafone and o2 has 900mHz, 1800mHz and 2100mHz.

The difference here is how the two networks have set-up their masts (Location) and which frequency they have deployed at each location.

Therefore, if you have good Vodafone coverage, you may not have good o2 coverage.

      Hope this helps.

I used to work at O2 and confirm that O2 DO NOT use the same network as Vodafone. A cell mast may have multiple operators using it but each operator will have its own antenna (in most cases). Some operators 'piggy back' off other operators e.g. Tesco, virgin mobile, talkmobile (not to be confused with t-mobile), but Vodafone and O2 have their own network (as did orange and t-mobile). I think 3 has there own network too but I'm not 100% sure.

(viks you beat me to it, lets fight)

I also think the S3 is too small, but the Note just a touch too big. I currently own a Galaxy Nexus 4.6" compared to the S3 4.8" so not much in it.

networks "can" use, and usually do, each other antenna if they have a problem with their own. but it's rare.
Also at nearly 2x the price of the one x i'll stick to that until this drops hopefully when next iphone comes out
