Good deal but the price has dropped a few times in the last few days.
Worth holding out for a lower price?
#2
how much would you consider a good price for this?
thanks in advance for any ideas

is it 4G?

This phone is going to have it's 3rd birthday soon.

Would you buy such an old one ?

My other halfs S4 heats up on a regular basis then drains the battery. Replacement genuine battery made no difference. Searched the web for a cure only to find its a common issue with no cure.

Root the phone and put a custom rom on it. My S4 is running lollipop 5.0 from the S4 Google Play Edition. Great battery life and n overheating

But it does have a screen that works with Normal gloves and the Camera has an underwater setting.

S3 came out in 2012, so S4 is less than that. Regardless, I consider my phone to be adequate for mostly everything and IMO the S4 would be too. Plus its not worth it to get the newer phones atm - I dont think youd notice the more powerful hardware

Might do, there's nothing else she likes at the moment so much we're stuck with it just now.

where did you hear that from mate? reliable source?

Everyone bragging about the Vodafone obviously haven't read all the nightmare posts about getting opened units or not even getting an order number despite money being taken.

I tried three times to order and had no luck, even in the phone they are useless, had to wait 7 days to get the three charges back.

Don't waste your time.

I took the radical step of going to the deal before asking questions. I found that it is 4g using this unusual technique and it's waterproof so taht might be better for some than a more expensive unavailable s5. Hot.

According to GSM Arena the S4 has been available from April '13 and the S4 Active from June '13.

My S4 overheats, it's something that Samsung have installed into the core system as far as I can tell. I'm going to try the Lollipop XDA install to see if that fixes it.

Otherwise, the phone is more than adequate still. I haven't felt any reason to upgrade yet, and unless I break the screen I won't for a while. The display is large enough and HD enough.

Later this year, when the Snapdragon 810 phones come out, 64-bit octa-cores with far more powerful graphics, maybe that's worth paying more each month on a contract for. But until then, this is a good price for a decent phone.

Great phone, had mine since August 2013 and it hasn't missed a beat. It charges fast on the supplied phone charger, holds battery life well, has a lovely screen and takes fantastic pictures. So much so that my expensive Panasonic TZ hasn't been used in 18 months !! I couldn't ask for more in a phone.

There was a post earlier regarding phone getting hot and losing battery charge with no fix. I have had this on my S2. Also had this on my HTC Desire. if you have a lot of apps on your phone they are still running in the background even when you turn them off. Get an app killer. The more apps you have running the harder the processor is having to work and the hotter the phone will get. Kill all applications when you are not using them. Turn mobile data off when you don't need it.

This is a great phone but if the other posts are correct and this is the american version with 8mp camera then not hot for me when the S5 is available at £70 or so more. Looks like Samsung or the retailers are keeping the costs up for both the S3 and S4 so people will buy the S5. Doesn't make sense to me but I would rather hold out and get the later model.

Problem is kitkat 4.4.2
Lollipop resolves but can only put on by rootign device if no official updates available.
#31
I heard there will be an official lollipop update sometime this year for the other variants of the S4, but for the i9500 non 4g version first. No problems with overheating here. I make sure there is no unnecessary crap or apps running in the background that are using RAM and lagging the phone which helps. Clean Master is an app I use and it even tells you the cpu temp.

It's 18 months old max but the spec is still plenty good enough for all but the most demanding user. Looks a pretty good deal to me particularly if you are after a waterproof handset that's a tad more rugged than the norm. Tempted myself... Hot.

dammit, just signed up for 24 months at £16 for a S4 mini, i could have gone sim only and then bought this and it would only work out at £20 more over the 2 years!

check if you have a cooling off period, especially if you bought the contract online.

ha, yeah, sometimes. i have a lot of mates who this has happened to so its obviously a danger that needed addressing which this phone does, with its waterproofness (is that a word?)
