I was looking for a good contract deal with a good phone and couldn't find anything for less than £30 that was from an OK company and had good minutes and data included. I had given up until yesterday, when I was checking, just in case new deals popped up and found this on http://www.mobiles.co.uk
Samsung Galaxy S5 Shimmering White (free)
EE contract:
1000 min
unlimited text
1000MB (4G)
for less than £25 a month!
I ordered one yesterday, received it lunch time today and was immediately on the phone with my old provider for my PAC. When they asked why I was leaving and said that they can try to match any deal that I have found, so I told them about the deal and they said that it wasn't possible to match :)
And as it comes from mobiles.co.uk, it is also unlocked :)

I assume you mean 1GB, not 1000GB!

Of course, sorry :) Corrected now :)

Wow, hot from me!

My s3 is up in Jan, and I'm not sure whether to upgrade. Can anyone tell me if there is much difference between the s5 and s3? Sorry I know that's probably a daft question - I know NOTHING about phones haha

I upgraded from S3 to S5 last month. Battery life is much longer on my s5 than the s3 (lasts just over 48 hours, I talk on it for ~ 1-2 hours a day). Much faster. I use the remote control feature as well (to change channels etc on your tv and other devices). I ordered the refurbished S5 from O2 and my phone came as brand new it was missing the headphone and the wall charger that is all. As a student I also get 30% off so works out around £22 a month. You could also get NHS etc discount.

Don't take this the wrong way but if you know nothing about phones, why would you want/need a "flagship" handset? Have you considered something a little less fashionable that could be had a fair bit cheaper on a 24 month contract? Just thought I'd ask.
#7
that does seem preety good, for a low data user, just checked mobiles.co.uk, shame it jumps soo much pm for a few Gb more?
#8
Am I missing something?? Says £159.99 for the phone??
#9
does anyone know if you can with hold starting the new contract until your old one runs out?? mine runs out in just under a month and would like to upgrade?? thanks

I have, but I honestly don't know where to start! If I can get something quite flashy like this for a few quid more then its probably worth it. I use my phone a lot - talking, texting, browsing Internet & taking photos mainly - but dont really use apps and don't have a clue about all these fancy features! OHs phone tells you the oxygen levels in your blood - why?! Haha! Quite like samsungs as I find my s3 easy to use, they're far more reasonable (on contract) than iPhone, and are slim/nice design so I'd ideally like to stick with them, but then I'm toying with the idea of going sim only and keeping the s3 (which I got from the £18pm deal on here a couple of years ago)

Similar deal at three is 28 quid a month. For 37 quid a month you get unlimited data

sorry was talkng about the deal we got two years ago on 3, shame they are nowhere near that price now, but no networks seem to be, they gave everyone loads of date once , for not too much, and now it seems to be 1 or 2GB contracts for around the £30 pm mark!, if you want big data allowances more like £40pm

That's a pretty fair assessment. Glad to see you're not looking to upgrade just for the sake of it, to get the latest toy like a lot of people!
If you could've got one of the LG G2 black friday deals that would've been ideal for you with a sim only set up - £150 for a fantastic phone with a great camera but still not the very latest as there's a newer model out there.
If you can swing a good deal to stay with your current provider then it may be worthwhile, but if your phone is fine I'd personally go sim only and then keep an eye out for a handset somewhere down the line.
Again, just my preference. I'm using an LTE S3 and it's fine for me but for trimming down video's shot on my gopro-type camera when I'm traveling, I'm going to need something with a bit more power as the S3 struggles - my phone has taken the place of a netbook when I'm on the road. But most people will never really test the performance of their phones with everyday use.

Yes, sorry, forgot to mention Quidco. It tracked within 30min of purchase :)

Can someone please confirm that this EE contract includes a 4G data connection - I've has a look on the mobiles.co.uk website but can't find anything that says it's definitely 4G. Many thanks.

Yes, for all EE contracts the data is 4G. I phoned them to double check because it wasn't mentioned on the website what kind of data you get.

Even when I paste the link into the browser it changes it to this.

http://m.mobiles.co.uk/index.php?page=product_tariff&value=GLXYS5BLA&filter=make&filterValue=Samsung&tariffType=paym&tid=B2ATMNOV14.

I really have been looking for an S5 deal too.
I guess it just isn't meant to be.
#24
Makes me laugh how this isn't even 'hot' yet, but somehow a Payg handset from Vodafone at £279 coupled with a comparable sim only plan would work out a similar price and is one of the hottest deals of all time.
#25
It seems that they are constantly redirecting the link. Just search for S5 in white on EE network and sort them by monthly cost and you will find the deal.

It is there you just have to change it to the "shimming white version" on the mobiles.co.uk website

Showing as 24.99 handset cost now?
#28
Cold. Get a real phone not a cheap plastic crappy device
#29
What model number is this? G900F or G901F? Wouldn't pay this for the former.

Cold....I can eat through 1GB data while having breakfast

It's shimmering white. God awful coulour, thats why it's not even luke warm. Change it to anything else and the price goes up. plus 1gb of data on 4g with an s5.... good luck with that
For those people that are getting sent to the black, it says choose colour under the phone pic

Yeah but I don't think a colour should account for a difference of 4000 in ratings.
#33
So to confirm, the best deal is now the below?

Handset £24.99 (was free yesterday / earlier today)
Monthly x 24 @ £24.99 pm

You can use TENOFF10 code to get £10 off the handset cost. Still £14.99 higher than original deal. I was going to get this for the other half but hate paying more than I could have paid a couple of hours ago!

The retailer is taking a £240 loss over the contract length compared to the black one, this has like you say no hot votes. should answer your question. Nobody wants a shimmering white phone X)

Yes I download apps but that's not going to put anyone near 750MB unless they are constantly downloading big games. Also just do that on wifi, problem solved.

Virgin use EE as a provider, and you can get 'unlimited' data on one of their tariffs, if memory serves with an S5 for £24 pm. that and they are a ratified company. very cheap sim only deals also, and can haggle goid deals uf already a virgin customer.
