Seems to be good deal for a new Samsung Galaxy S7...

Go to above link and select relevant colour and 32GB option, sort by high upfront cost and select the 3GB tariff with £49.99 upfront.

Total cost: 49.99+(12*24) = £337.99

Call o2 when you get the phone and tell them you want to cancel your airtime and pay the cost of the device.

Step by step guide for this deal

1) Follow the get deal button, purchase the 49.99 + £31.50*24 tariff.

2) Receive your phone and sim card.

3) Put the sim card into your phone and go onto myO2 (app or website) and from there request the unlock code.

4) Call 202 from the same sim card as it will make things much easier, go straight to the I want to leave o2 department or something like that (I think it's thinking of leaving us? Press something) as that will connect you with the right people much quicker.

5) Tell the person you want to pay your device in full and cancel the airtime. They will ask you why, tell them you don't think the airtime is a good value for money, but you want to keep the phone because you think it's an outstanding value for money. They will ask you for card details, you tell those details and that's it, they cancel it for you in about an hour.

6) You own the phone from that point, assumed that you have done this straightaway, there won't be any charges, otherwise you will have to pay as much airtime as you have used.

7) Unlock code will come through in about 2 to 48 hours.

Oh, also, you get a free Samsung speaker worth £99.00, as they say.

Only downside is credit score going down, also watch out cause sometimes they'll take money even if you've asked to cancel. Keep eye on it.

they did not want to unlock the phone, took a good few days and many requests - then didnt wanna cancel the contract - I stopped the direct debit with the bank after cancelling contract and they still tried to take the money !!!

Good deal, didnt affect my credit score, I got my unlock code almost immediately but there may be hassle with DD payments still being taken. I got it all sorted in the end but dont do this deal if you are not prepared to have some hassle - you probably will not !

I think o2 have cottoned onto this and are making cancelling the airtime as difficult as possible . I went for the P9 in September and followed the instructions as above . It took until November to resolve and in that time they had taken a total of £500 from my account . I had several people assure me they would resolve it and never did . In the end I had to write to them and eventually got my money back . So just keep an eye on your bank account.

That doesn't sound right. It should at least show that they searched. Have you checked your credit reports from all the 3 agencies? If you're not applying for any credits in the short-term, don't bother much.

t's actually £288, coz there is a £50.00 off coupon suddenly appears if you add the 49.99 + £47*24 into your basket.

Get £50 off the upfront cost. On 3GB tariffs and above.
Promo code: TA6FKBT413

You are welcome.

I am really attempted, after the very bad nightmare I had with O2 refresh to buy S6 last year.
Would it be easier/more difficult to cancel if I paid the phone+air time for one or two months before trying to buy out?

For those that have ordered via O2 refresh, not sure if it will speed things up but once MyO2 is updated with phone details it doesn't show your IMEI or allow you to request an unlock code, until phone is confirmed as delivered. However if you go via chat online they will tell you your IMEI number and you can complete the online form to request an unlock code https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

I did 02 refresh deal a year or so ago, followed the rules and they still took the money for the whole contact, saw me out of pocket for over a month before the cash was returned after several phone calls..... only do this if you can afford to be out of pocket.... for a while at least.
#19
Can't be arsed with the hassle. If you gamble woth your credit score, fair enough, but not for me. If your credit score reduces because if this, it may affect your ability to get, say, a mortgage. Not worth it imo. I will wait until they come down in price.

Why are people paranoid with credit score u must have issues If u think o2 refresh will affect your scoring. I have done 3 in last year and my rating is max with Experian and equifax. It's a myth !!!!!!

this has not expired, the code used to get the cheaper £288 deal has, but not the deal above.

I've had 2 phones from the o2 refresh. No problem at all last year. First time I got a bill for over £300 but they quickly amended it via live chat.

Oh and my credit score perfect

Well I decided to take the leap.

Looking over the terms and conditions the price of the handset is linked to having taken an airtime package and seems to suggest either having to return the phone or pay full price if you cancel airtime.

Have people definitely purchased at the £337.99 when they've cancelled the airtime package?

I'll return the lot no harm no fowl if it can't be but I'm interested to hear from someone who has definitely purchased this phone at £337.99 and cancelled their airtime.

I purchased this albeit at the cheaper £288 price. I can confirm you pay off the handset and then cancel the airtime. I was charged for 2 days @ £2 for the airtime.

Sorry but that is wrong - please check before posting comments like this.

Go to link, follow the above guide and select the 3GB £49.99 upfront and £31.50 a month tariff.

That is still £12 per month for device and £21.50 for airtime, same as before.

It ends on the 11th January.

I used live chat to moan that the code no longer works despite it being advertised until end of January and they gave me three months of free airtime (2nd, 3rd and 4th months) to compensate. Also used my 25% employer discount

There was a code for an extra £50 off which meant no £49.99 upfront, but that expired (see link I posted above, it was this deal but then with the code). Also MrConway mentions being able to possibly still get the money off if asking via chat.

So worst case is that currently it is £337.99

So from my experience the cancellation seemed easy enough.

I was advised there was a £288 settlement on the phone which the guy took my card details for and confirmed the device was now my property. And the airtime cancellation request was put through and I was advised there would be a pro-rata bill for the days of usage during the first month.

Unlocking was not as simple though. First contacted them over live chat, was told it would be unlocked at some point in up to 7 days blah blah, got an email 2 hours later saying it was unsuccessful. Went back to live chat to ask why and was told it was because the device IMEI wasn't showing on my account, told I needed to have the sim chip in and be using it (it already was). Told them it was and was advised it could be a 'technical glitch' and to try again in 24 hours and to rest assured it would be fixed.

Went back on live chat 24 hours later to request again and told that it should be ok now so I'm still waiting for that to come through.
