Same as previous refresh deals, currently available in Black/Gold

Select the 500MB data tariff

£99.99 - Upfront

£11 per month x 24 months

£99.99 + £264 = £363.99

When you receive the device, ask for the unlock code which will take between 1 - 5 days usually within 24hours.When you receive the code, cancel airtime and pay off the remainder of the device in full.Make sure you get the unlock code before you cancel the airtime and cancel any direct debits through your bank, just in case o2 try take take money out which they have done in the past, also don't use any data, calls, text with the new SIM otherwise you will be charged. Please note for O2 to process the unlock code, you will have to register the device to the O2 network. So if you have a O2 sim laying around than use that. Or use the sim that comes with the device, but make sure the data is switched off.

Also available on pay as you go ( Black/Gold ) device £369.99, hassle free in cancelling the airtime etc but remember they offer the unlock code on pay monthly so you will pay to get the phone unlocked either by o2 themselves or elsewhere.

How much are these worth brand new?
over £500+ from respectable retailers.

However much you're willing to pay for one. £500+ seems to be a typical retail price currently.

But If you have a contract already with 02 or know someone can you request unlock through that way ??

I would be weary with an o2 refresh deal given the trouble others had with everything seemingly cancelling okay but then being billed continuously.

I don't think so, I believe it is 12 months after purchase now. Also costs quite a bit.
#28

Can you just pay for the device in full upfront? Then cancel airtime when phone unlocked?

Wanting to avoid the Credit check

No, for this you'll need to buy it on PAYG for £6 extra.

Then, if it doesn't come unlocked (some do, some don't), you can get an unlock code off eBay for around £12-13. Otherwise, it's £15 via phone credit after at least a year of using it with O2 (all this is for locked PAYG phones only).

I bought a Z1 Compact a few years back on O2 refresh. Cancelled airtime on receipt. Spent hours being referred to management and getting nowhere when they billed me for early closure.

Good, but not that great really when one considers it was just £30 more brand new recently:
Samsung Galaxy S7 (Brand New) - £395.99 @ O2 Refresh

True but not likely to be that price any time soon though

am I missing something here? on payg do you need to add a £10 tariff? can't find a way to just buy the phone without adding tariff
#38
Really great phone this. Can always send it back if its battered
#39
Seems a good deal if the payg version is unlocked - I doubt it will be though if it is second hand

Yes, usually you can. there is an option on the page (under the regular tariffs) for 'Pay for your device in full', where you can select the tariffs and pay £369.99 up front. You can then get it unlocked for free, and then call to cancel call plan and keep the phone.

AFAIK PAYG phones are always locked on O2, and you have to wait 12 months for free unlocking or pay if you want it unlocked sooner.
