Cheap enough - these aint great tablets though. The Hudl at a tenner less not as pretty to look at (especially big bezel) but having tried both the Hudl is the one I'd chose out of the two

- better specs, especially screen
- very little "bloat"
- easy to return to Tesco without a receipt

What's the point in buying something to ultimately return? or are you expecting something to go wrong with it?

I mean if you want to return it it easier. Never really know if you will like something till you've tried it. Not expecting either to go wrong, but do expect some won't like them - probably why they are refurbs in the first place.

If it does go wrong or you don't like it, I think you can take the Hudl back to Tesco directly. No axe to grind here, not buying either, but think of the two refurbs the hudl is a better tab and cheaper.

I'm sorry, I let you go on and I shouldn't have, The Hudl is from the exact same retailer on the exact same storefront (eBay not Tesco Direct)

I have no idea why you think the Tab 3 is harder to return? Is it heavier?

no idea - but try returning a tesco product to tesco without a store receipt, then try a non tesco product without a store receipt, wherever it comes from - gift, ebay storefront, whatever. compare your experiences, then come back and post another snide comment.

Just offering an opinion on the deal and the alternatives, don't know why you have got so wound up about it, I really couldn't care tuppence.

Listen mate, I understand your point, But it has no purpose, You are buying it off the internet, Your receipts will be on both eBay and PayPal/Credit card statement.

I'm sorry but it was not in the slightest a valid point.

Well as you are being semi-civil

You are buying both from the internet but one can be returned to a shop whose brand it carries that is within a few minutes of most people, the other one (the samsung btw) can't. A lot of both products have clearly already been returned, so its something to consider.

If you are happy paying £70 for a Samsung 7" tab with those specs good luck to you. In my opinion you can do better with £10 change - its what people do on here mate, offer opinions on deals and products. Chill the **** out.

What are you on about? I have no issue with your opinion, It was given and it was appreciated.

I asked what the hell

- easy to return to Tesco without a receipt

Was actually? I asked why you would never have a receipt, You would always have one.

It was just a pointless attachment to two well presented points.
[HUKD Deal Editor]#12

Yeah, My only issue there mate would be the Grade B seller refurb as opposed to the 'apparant' manufacturer refurb at Tesco, But it's like anything else I guess, They are all a lottery.

it's a rubbish deal and a rubbish tablet. I bought one new from CPW for £10 more on boxing day and I bet a Windows 95 PC would give it a run for its money in terms of reliability and speed.

Thanks, I'm still in two minds though about the nexus, with a new model coming out and missing that sun offer.
Its for the kids to use, as my old lumia 520 phone seems a bit small for the games and stuff.
Thanks

Ah, I'm not sure how old your kids are, But I got one of these from Amazon for my 3 year old for christmas (overkill I know), But with the world we live in now he is always watching cartoons on YouTube or playing the BBC games (Mr Maker and such). He knows how to use it well enough. Also with us grabbing UV codes with the Blu Rays we obtain its nice to add up a little catalogue of titles for him to watch in bed.

But I guess most tablets can do all of the above quite well, It's just down to how much you really wanna spend.

P.S Please don't tell my son it's not an iPad, He still thinks it is (_;)

The Galaxy Tab series is pretty terrible - I would never buy one. There are many better options in this price range, e.g. a used Nook HD+ (no camera, but a fantastic screen). The hudl is another option, decent, but not great.

The price is ok but it's a really crappy tablet.
Its amazing that every time that this tablet gets onto HUKD it gets loads of heat yet everyone who has bought one posts how bad they are and to avoid them.
Obviously people must see the Samsung brand and think it's good; guess what people, it's not!

These are perfect for kids. My two have tab 2's with 32gb cards in and they work a treat for their needs :)

No one is saying these are fantastic spec, the best out there or iPad killers, but this is good value for money IMO for what you get.

Good spot OP.

I had a Note 8.0 which was excellent: snappy, useful (esp. with stylus), lovely screen. Was stolen within a month :(

Replaced it with this model which does not compare in any way in terms of decent specs... it's agonisingly slow as well. Everytime I turn it on I'm reminded of my lost Note argh. Even at this price I wouldn't recommend this as a primary tablet and I wonder about it for older kids too - they have the attention span of goldfish so I can imagine them poking at the screen and getting frustrated as things fail to happen for several seconds, or worse, happen after a pause during which time they've pressed the screen again and initiated a different action... oO

Just wondering, if the Hudl is so great, why do they have such a huge amount of refurbs for sale?
Either they're crap and people didn't like them, or they are prone to faults... Either way, I think I'd rather have the Sammy.

I'm a Samsung fanboy but unfortunately the Hudl is better, as long as you can put up with Tesco widgets/accounts and the constant reminders to earn Clubcard points on everything you do!

Thats was Argos ebay, their electronics refurbs have always been a joke.

I got a Tab 3 refurn from Tesco/ebay for a Nephew a while back, and it was mint condition and worked perfectly.

Same old quotes, yes iPads are simple to use and effective, so of course kids and old people can use them, why over complicate a device that for 90% of the time all you want to do is Browse the internet & and stream video

this samsung is slow unresponsive and laborious and quite simply if you left it in a room full of chimps alongside an iPad, it would be second fiddle, if used at all

the topend samsung / sony devices I.m sure would be a completely different story..

Harder to return Samsung products WITHOUT PAPER WORK!!!! i have a samsung phone here which needs a warranty repair it has almost 2 years left on it but i have no paper work receipt and Samsung have said simply No receipt No repair end of even if giving them the serial number etc proves its still in warranty etc.
Scandalous...

Oh hot by the way my kids have tab 2's and they are more then capable of doing everything they need to do and imo i don't think you will find anything better quality and supported and in looks then these for kids..
