Not sure what the 15% is taken from, either pre or inc vat, but should bring it to less than £350 at least.

Not voting either way, pretty good price for a Samsung Galaxy Tab, but in my opinion the product itself is not that great, so a neutral deal for me. :)

It's getting some awful reviews and the ipad is the same price. Cold

The iPad is quite a different product, and doesn't have entirely the same function as the Galaxy Tab, not sure voting cold as you prefer the iPad is necessary.

Best Buy pay Quidco on full retail price, unlike DSG who only pay on pre VAT price.

Should add that my sale has tracked at £60.44 on topcashback.
Makes it £338.56.

The galaxy and the iPad are very expensive for what they are but my kids asked for one for Christmas , after a lot of thought I bought an ipad and although it doesn't offer value for money for the little difference in price between the 2 in my opinion the iPad wins hands down it is a joy to use and educational apps are fantastic for the kids the galaxy just doesn't have the same ooomph, just my twopeneth for what its worth , and I'm not for or against Apple for those involved in the great debate

Techradar reviewed and it said it outclassed the iPad in 7 of the 10 review categories. That said, they're not at all similar, the Galaxy Tab is an Android Tablet which has been promised a Honeycomb update, and also works as a phone in either Dom Joly style, or with a headset (bluetooth or wired). It also has a front and rear facing camera and a list of features Apple will probably add in it's 7th overpriced gen.

I suggest you do some research.

I think it might be, these people vote everything non-iPad cold, whether it be a Galaxy Tab, a Potato, or a week's holiday in Greece.

Voting hot, as it's not an iPad ;)

I've voted hot because its a good deal even though the anti Apple brigade shot my iPhone post down in flames , aren't we losing focus here isn't it all about the best deals not personal preference
#16
It depends what you read. T3 gadget magazine rated the Galaxy down against the iPad on most of it's useability, however it won on the cameras, size, phone etc. Interestingly they said that you could only get decent battery life from it with flash turned off! The iPad still beat the Galaxy and about 4 other tabs because of the overall experience. Unless you need the small size, and cameras, I don't really understand the appeal, except to the ABA brigade (Anything But Apple).

I would hang on to my money and wait until the iPad 2 is announced (next month?), that will no doubt change everything again!
#17
Im so tempted by this offer just dont know whether its worth waiting for the ipad 2 or hope that it does get the honeycomb update in the near future :-/
#18
I would wait for the new Dual Core Honey Comb Tablets to come out, they got demoed at CES a few days ago and these make the Ipad look bad. Q1-Q2 release date and onwards. One of them is the Motorola Xoom. I read somewhere that only dual core's can run honeycomb, so no galaxy tab.

This deal has been posted before, but hot anyways.

Samsung have confirmed that this will get the upgrade to 2.3, but there is talk that any devices running honeycomb need to have a dual core processor, also there are conflicting reports that there will be no requirement for this. The fact that the new galaxy tab shown at ces still only has a 1.2ghz processor plus 4g was a vote of confidence for this device, and why I bit the bullet and went for it.

Ok cheers for the advice...

I think the dual core requirement for honeycomb has been debunked now. But there is no commitment from Samsung to provide honeycomb on this device, and their ultra slow rollout of Froyo on the Galaxy S does not give me a warm feeling.

Motorola Xoom does look good, but early pre-order prices put it around 650 quid.
#22
I'd personally wait as Froyo was never really meant as a tablet system - great for mobile phones but not so hot for a larger screen. See what happens with android 2.3 - go for a tablet that you're sure will work with it when it's been tried and tested.

What i don't understand, is why people are voting cold? this is a hot deals site and i believe that, this price is good, what has it got to do with personal preferance wether you do or don't like the samsung galaxy?
Thank you for posting (_;)
#24
Voted cold purely as this deal has now been posted 2-3 times on hukd in the last month

It's a triple/quadruple post so spam!

Hot hot hot as its not an ipad.

I bought one of these just after xmas that had 64G for £399 with 10% cashback. Lets clear up the most common error on these postings shall we, The Galaxy Tab is NOT the same price as the equivalent 64G ipad with 3G & wifi. The eqivalent ipad is £714 compared to £350ish with cashback for the Galaxy which is over 50% saving. I am sure the Ipad is better and its definately bigger than the galaxy tab but to me, paying twice as much when my children will be useing it and it may last a week or a year was the overriding consideration and the fac samsung are giving away £200 of free downloads for it for a limited time made my decision for me. The question is simply, do you buy the galaxy or do you buy the lower memory without 3G version ipad that IS the equivalent price. Am I happy with the galaxy aftyer buying it, yes I am. It has started to freeze up for a second or so here and there which maybe due to me putting AVG antivirus on it but before the freezing, I was over the moon with it and literally spent hours playing with it. Battery life is a little short approx 3 hours and the battery charging lead is a little short which is inconvenient to use & charge at the same time. The apps are many & easy to locate & download, the functionality on the tab is good although I have struggled to find simple functions like locking the screen but these problems are resolved in 3/4 minutes through a process of elimination. I bought a kindle a couple of months ago for £150 and to me, the tab is bigger and just as good as the kindle so for £200 more, you do get a lot more for your money imho. I would recommend the galaxy tab if price restricts you, you are not being the piece of crap which many people are saying it is and its probably not as good as the ipad but nothing is at the moment which is why the orice is double. I am an apple product fan but at HALF the price of the equivalent ipad this deal has to be hot vote and as for all those sit back and wait for soemthing better people out there, you'll sit about for a year so you miss out on using it for a year and there is always something just around the corner so that argument is not a valid argument IMHO. This product is not the turkey a lot of people are making it out to be. I'm pleased I bought it at the price I paid and this is a little cheaper so HOT HOT HOT from me.

Could all the kids on here grow up a bit or let us adults have a sensible discussion on the merits of the deal? FFS.

Note: Your brand choice shouldn't define you as a person.

Disclosure: I have an iPad and love it. The Galaxy Tab is also terrific and is the best Android tablet out.
#28
This has gone from £599 to £399 in the last two months- doesn't that say something. It will be obsolete in twelve weeks when the new Android tablets come out not forgetting the Ipad 2 for about the same price. Save your cash.
#29
Will be £299 next month for sure ... Samsung has malls full of these to get shifted.

The anti-Apple brigade are just as bad as the fanboys in my opinion. Do whatever research you like, different magazines give different reviews. T3 said the iPad far outclassed the Galaxy Tab. The people that write the reviews are humans and have their own opinions, so just because Techradar don't like the iPad doesn't mean you should avoid it. If you're in the Market for an Internet tablet, go try them for yourself, see which suits you. I did this, and bought an iPad. This doesn't make me a fanboy or an idiot, I just preferred the iPad.

In relation to this deal, it is a good deal, and if you wanted a Galaxy tab, you'd struggle to find it cheaper, but my advice is go out and mess around with one for yourself. My Mrs couldn't understand why I wanted an iPad, and why I wanted to spend so much (they are expensive for what they are!), but now I've got one, she's never off the thing, and says it's the best money we've spent on a gadget.

Samsung has announced a new version for the US with a slightly faster processor and it will be upgradeable to 4G. They are now rumored to be announcing a Tegra 2 based tablet at the upcoming Barcelona show.

I had one of these up until last week. Build quality is excellent, easily the best Android tablet available now. After upgrading to the latest firmware it was far more responsive, and at half the price of an iPad, a more practical form factor (especially if you commute) it's a good deal, sweetened further by the movies, books and MP3s thrown in.

So why did I return mine? Well Android itself is not ready for the big screen. So few apps take advantage and with the next generation around the corner, I decided it was prudent to wait another month or two.

Doubt only dual core would run honeycomb that would wipe out the entire android phone market in one swoop!

I've been using a Tab since Christmas day, it is not as snappy as my Desire, but is excellent in many ways. It is the perfect size for reading books, the 7 free gameloft games & preinstalled NFS shift work well as do angry birds. Web browsing & watching iplayer is a real pleasure. Kies installed without problems to windows 7, and latest update installed no problem. The only issue in our house is getting a look in as everyone wants to use it.

Why's it taking so long for Android to release a tablet operating system? All this phone operating system on tablets is just so half arsed.

I have an iPad, and I have used the galaxy tab. They are completely different devices, so try one of, if you like one buy one (and it seems like a good price), if you don't, don't.
I would also judge it on its merits, not how good it would be with some update.

Surely the ipad will drop in price?? Oh no, apple dont price things down, they just like shafting people.
I was lookign for a nice dinner tray, i bought an Ipad, does the job much better then the tab, as its twice the size.
Apples marketing department could sell **** to a dung spreader. geniuses.

G tab at this price is not bad at all, the only thing holding from buying a tab is Blackberry Playbook, it looks very promising, shame I will have to wait for another few months......,

I doubt it will be revolution, more evolution. (Unless they shockingly support flash, then that "might" rekindle my interest). On the form factor, we've got a KINDLE at Hwangeruk towers, and I think that size is perfect for reading and the odd bit of surfing. Personally think the iPad is too big, and a sort of inbetween device. Its neither one thing nor the other. Its not pocktebale. Its too expensive to be casually taken everything. If I am home, or in offce, then I have superior devices to use, like Macbook, or full blown PC and for gaming a console. Just not sure where the iPad "fits", whats the point? We have a few a work, and after the initial "wow" factor of a slate has worn off, they just sit on desks, as people get on with using Notebooks. I love it for creating a new market segment and driving innovation in this area though. I'm stil hankering for a Psion Netbook style device. Instant on, full (usable) keyboard, 7 hours battery, but with a decent OS. One can dream.

if you have a galaxy tab,try to download Open TTD from the market. It's a real game designed for the big screen!
