Oh well at least someone benefited from this. I wasn't aware of this deal until I seen it first thing this morning on the website. Don't know if it's been advertised on tv as i hardly watch it!

I personally think that it won't go much cheaper. If it does it won't be by much. Only been cheaper with store specific deals in the past.

Looks good reading reviews online. Was waiting for a deal on an iPad Air 2 but might get this & save myself a few quid.
#11
Finally! Thank OP was waiting for this. Why is this getting cold anyway?

Previous Tab A's were rubbish and people don't know the difference?

Yes it is. Plus this is marshmallow and the e is the older kitkat. Sure I read somewhere also that e WiFi drops and battery life not very good.

much appreciated rollzy.

This is excellent but will see if JL respond before diving in.

Hot hot! Ordered, thanks OP. Been waiting for this to drop in price as it's arguably a better tablet than the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70 (was recently £140 at Tesco, now up to £170 everywhere).

Great price - I have one already. Very fast, crisp display and amazing battery life. You cant go wrong at this price.
#23
I have one of these for about 4 month... it is the 2016 model with a great display, fast AC wifi and good processor. The SD card is expandable to about 200GB. Great buy for £159.00
#24
I could do with one of these. As my nvidia shield tablet k1 tablet has poor battery life and drains very quickly when playing games on It. I am so tempted to order one now.

Well they did on this occasion after they looked it up and then checked with whoever. I have the email confirmation to prove it. It looks like they pushed it through at my nearest store as the receipt says "Set up on 23 November 2016 at John Lewis Welwyn".

Of course it may depend on which CS person picks up the phone or perhaps I was delightfully charming enough to get it. I'd suggest the former. ;)

Cheers! I have not seen it advertised either. I was going to buy the Asus zenpad as it was cheaper. This one will have more thing and is better specced. Bargain for me so thanks again.

TAKE MY POST HERE WITH A PINCH OF SALT - I SUSPECT JOHN LEWIS ARE WRONG!
Be careful, I remember nearly getting caught out by a PCW ipod touch deal a few years ago, ordering only to discover that it was a very cutdown model of the normal one.

Why do I bring this up? Well John Lewis have just refused a price match.
"The item with John Lewis is Qualcomm Snapdragon and the Currys item is Exynos 7870, therefore they are not identical items."

And they're not wrong.

Looking at the PC World business website, they have a slightly different version of this tablet, calling it Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016)
https://www.pcworldbusiness.co.uk/catalogue/item/P242393P

in addition to this one (without the 2016 suffix and described as having the Samsung processor).
https://www.pcworldbusiness.co.uk/catalogue/item/N168322W?from=category&heat=title

Looks to me as if PCW are pulling a fast one again.

Edited By: gwapenut on Nov 23, 2016 19:26: was probably incorrect

I have no idea where JL have got their info from regarding the processor, it's definitely the Exynos 7870.

A number of retailers have it listed as (2016), since it wasn't called the Tab A2, thereby avoiding any confusion with the previous 9.7" model.

Vendors are selling both the old and new model simultaneousl which is confusing matters. In this instance JL are wrong and should price match. The 2016 10.1" model is the Exynos CPU and preferable to the Snapdragon.

I don't think you are right... After your comment, I had a search around for a variant with a Qualcomm chip but cannot find anything. Actually, the JohnLewis site doesn't even show which processor is in the tablet, even the link you sent doesn't back up what you are saying. I think you just had a crappy CS agent from JL.

If you search the mfr numbers from the links you have sent, you will find SM-T580NZWABTU (Qualcomm processor?) refers to the white model and SM-T580NZKABTU (Exynos processor) refers to the black model.

Plus the reviews are the same for both models! They do their best to confuse matters tho.
