Hot - not an iPad

Froyo = so-so.
With Honeycomb tablets now shipping, this has limited appeal.
Decent price, though !

I'm going to say something controversial but not for the reason that most of the fanbois say it.

I've voted cold simple because I do not think the price difference between this and a certain other tablet is sufficient to vote it hot. The other one with the 'i' prefix is, on balance, a better machine with a better ecosystem surrounding it and I am unconvinced that the less than 100 notes difference in price is enough.

That said, I was holding out for an Android tablet - it's just that one didn't come along quickly enough.

So flame me.

and this has smaller screen so id expect to pay less (though the smaller screen is a disadvantage and advantage) but at least they havent followed the same stupid apple business model or restrictive storage options....

I'm afraid I'm voting cold as £299 is now the standard price for the wi-fi version and been this price for quite a while now. Acer Iconia A100 out next week for same price with Honeycomb. Plus has a USB port which is always useful.

So it is... But this one isn't for the same price

Cheeky Syzable tried to trick us! X)

How did Syzable 'try to trick'? This is the P1010. The P1000 comes with 3G, the P1010 is WiFi only. Syzable makes no mention of 3G in the OP. When you're wrong just admit it don't try and blame others.

only the people who will pay £399 and only ever intend browing, reading a few ebooks and playing a couple of games I suspect... for anyone else who wants to do something valuable it will indeed be very good..

however since when was using your fingers and not a mouse considered progress ??

tablets need to have 2 advantages (over laptops) in my view ; 1) relatively cheap and 2) light and small.........

Yup. I understand that it is, however, ******** by needing to use electricity. Everything has some kind of requirement. The ecosystem for the iPad is wider than that (currently) for Android. I have an Android phone and an iPhone and I would support both in my business but clients only ever want iPhone/iPad apps.

What I am talking about is the state of play right now, as you buy the device.

Although I am a bit concerned at myself for answering, cos your tone is clearly that of an Android fanboi so the chances of this turning into a sensible conversation are minimal.

I stand by what I said though.

I take that on board. The Apple model is restrictive but it's not impossible to get around and as for restrictive storage options, I've always seen tablets as cloud devices and most of my stuff is kept in the cloud for sharing purposes anyway - so I don't see it as an issue.
