ABSOLUTE STEAL - DO NOT VOTE COLD JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN ONLY GET IT AT AN AIRPORT ON YOUR WAY OUT OF THE UK!!!

Samsung GX20 Digital SLR 14.6MP with 18-55mm lens only £304.32 if you are flying from most UK airports.

They've got the UK high street price WRONG!!

These are typically £490-£590

Also, they were selling the display model for £250 at Heathrow T5B shop the other day!!

don't give up hope - this deals been around for a couple of months at least. Simply depends on stocks I guess.

I'm voting cold because you can only get it at an aiport on your way out of the UK ;)

Very good price. Almost worth getting a ticket for a cheap flight somewhere to get it! I wonder if you can phone to check availability first?

Have some heat.

Just called Gatwick North to confirm this as i am catching a flight on Friday.
You do not have to live outside the UK you just have to be flying out of the UK.
Downside - this is a clearance item and they have no stock at Gatwick.
#9
Don't know why it's Clearance - current model and up there with the best in the sub-£1000 ranges. Same camera as the Pentax K20D.

Dixons aren't exactly well known for selling DSLRs however!

EDIT: Their 'high street' website only has one Samsung lens and no Samsung DSLR cameras!!

I'm flying out of T5 on Friday - will keep an eye out

None at Stansted.

I do believe that if anyone gets "caught" by customs returning to the UK with one of these in their possesion, will find they suddenly become lighter in the wallet.

Even if you unpack it, get rid of the packaging and pack it up as normal luggage so it doesn't look like you bought it a few days ago?

I would not have been the first person to think of that idea so why don't you save the roll-eyes for something worth rolling your eyes at.

I've thought about blowing the mother in law away, but encouraging someone else to do it would still end up with me being in a bit of strife.

This is only a problem if you are travelling outside the EU (ie you might get taxed on entry to a non-EU country, but not coming back to the UK if you've got the receipt), in which case you can collect the goods on your return (BAA airports only). Many countries just want to check your passport and nothing else.

You can purchase from Dixons Tax Free shop even if you are flying within the UK.

Their website says:

Shopping at the airport
To benefit from our savings all you need to do is fly to any destination (even within the UK) from a UK airport and present your boarding card at Dixons Travel when you make your purchase. You'll find Dixons Travel in the departure lounge after security control.

You can even get your purchase delivered to you after you retrun to the UK...

How would you handle the situation if you were a customs officer?
With the aid of a pair of Marigolds...

There's a lot of misinformation in this thread!

Of course you can buy as a UK based flyer
Of course you wont get stung by Customs, that's the whole point of tax-free!
You can pre-order to avoid disappointment
You can even have the thing delivered to you HOME so you don't need to take it with you on your flight!

but but but I haven't got £300 to spare! GAH!!!!
