Wife bought me one of these last week for my birthday, I know LX direct don't have a good press on here, however this is the cheapest price for the Samsung GX20 & I have not included the vouchers from LXdirect due to the hassle from them.

Buy from LXDirect then fill out the form here from Samsung

http://www.samsungcamera.co.uk/promotion/1/gx_cashback.html

Send it with your receipt from LX Direct & cut out the serial number from the box, then Samsung will send you a cheque for £100

i don't know much about SLRs/photography but 14.6mp is a hell of a lot of detail

It is Samsungs version of the Pentax K20D which they co-developed together. I am unsure if it's worth the money.

Why?

I can legitimately (with codes sent to me) get this for £478.60 (after cashback) and pay for it on 12 months interest free credit....

Now that looks interesting....

Might just have to mate that with my Schneider (Samsung) 55-200mm zoom lens and sell off my GX-1S...

Its a cracking camera, this is exactly the same camera as the very highly rated pentax K20d, only the menu system is slightly different, most reviews say the Samsung menu is better though.

Review of the Pentax K20d here

If you already have lenses which fit this camera then it is worthwhile for you. People get hooked on megapixel figures but they don't understand that it's the glass and size of sensor that makes the sharpness.

At least £30 back via Quidco as well!

Reviews suggest this has the best CCD on any D-SLR under £3000!!

^^ It could well be but it depends what you want to use it for and if you really need it. Can you justify spending £500 on a camera for ameteur use? Samsung are doing a good job at making electronics cheaper so hopefully we will see full frame senors at this sort of price soon!

Very true...and I will probably resist the temptation!

My GX-1S + 2 lenses cost me £0.00, so that was a cracking deal! :whistling: (a buy 4, sell 3 kinda deal)

I may well stick to that. 6MP is plenty with a good CCD, pentaprism optics and lenses.

But if you are not willing to spend £500 on a camera like this for amateur use, you are not really going to go out & get a full frame sensor at £500 either, pretty pointless argument.

The sensor on this camera is excellent in lowlight situations, even having useable ISO capabilities of 6400 that is unheard of under a £1000 never mind at this price range

If I could get that for £478 would have there hand off.

Does the Littlewoods Direct price definitely include a lens, and if so is it the 12-24mm pictured?
I phoned their "help" line, but the didn't have a clue...
