??? how could such a thread exist, maxtor are nearly as bad as WD, slow badly rated drives.....Segate and Samsung are the classic premium drives.

Good find - hot.

I like their drives. Good price just bought it to replace a drive that died yesterday. Heat and rep added - thanks.

This is a fantastic deal. I had two of these, plus another two products in my basket over the weekend, but wanted to wait until after midday today.

It really freaked me out :w00t::prop::geek:, as though Scan had been bugging my thoughts... all three products were in their Today Only deals, soI saved quite a bit of cash.

I have used Scan on many occasions and always found them to be very good.

To get back to the subject, I have run 4 of these drives in a RAID array for just under a year.

One of the drives failed in the first week but it was replaced within 2 days and worked fine. However the array fell over again yesterday and it was the replacement drive that failed. I've raised a new RMA I'll get a replacement drive in 2 days.

The warranty is indicated as running to 2010 and the warranty service is very efficient if things do go wrong. However I'm glad I'm using these in RAID rather than standalone.

Incidentally the drives cost me £82 each 11 months ago. Wish the price of 1TB drives would come down and I could replace all 4!

I've so far bought 4 of these drives. 1 failed within a week, but the rest (and the replacement) have been fine. I use them in RAID 1 arrays, so a single drive failure is not a major issue. I strongly recommend RAID 1 to anyone who values their time more than a spare 50 quid disk drive.

thanks OP, just ordered. for some reason AVF discount did not worked, but hexus carriage worked

BOO HOO
nearly 16 Quid delivery to belfast (the avforums is mainland uk only)

A good deal, hot for the spot BUT on ebuyer there are over 30 reviews for this drive and about 20% describe failures. One can't know how the numbers relate to sales but this is a pretty high % of bad reviews IME so beware.

These drives are highly recommended on BYO, I've got one and it's very good compared to the WD I've had before and to the Seagate drives I've had.
