Yes, I agree. Can I put this in my Macbook white c2d 2.1ghz model?

Why do people need this kind of space in a PS3? is it to store movies to watch or to download games? Dont get me wrong cause ve got bout 3TB in my pc 70% movies streamed to pc via ps3 but not stored on the ps3.

Are 1tb hard disks for laptops on the market yet.
#11
Not as of yet it seems, this is as large as they go - when they do go on sale though, I can't imagine they'll be that cheap!
#12
Can the PS3 even recognise 500gb?
#13
Yes, why wouldn't it?
#14

Yes. This is a 9.5mm sized drive. I've put one in my Macbook Pro.

Soooo tempting.

250GB I have now lasted no time :-D

What are Samsung drives like these days? I thought they stopped making them some time ago! I usually go for Seagate of WD..

Judging by all the heat that this deal is getting I’m beginning to believe that I’m correct in thinking that its hard to find a 500GB 2.5 HDD for under £80 so this is a good price!

It's good to find £80 in a 500GB 2.5 HDD but it's hard to find.

The Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB is the desktop HD of choice these days. It is the quietest and the fastest that I have and after initial teething problems consistently gets the best reviewer write up for consumer drives.

I recently had to replace a WD in my Macbook that failed after 6 months and Seagate has had no end of firmware issues recently. I would say that the Samsung is a bit quieter than the WD in notebook form although both are generally good choices and the WD is supposed to be a little faster.

Thanks

I had a Samsung drive a few years ago (it was only a 4.3GB!) and it was superb, lasted me several years even with lots of moving about. It even lasted a good while after I lost my temper with the PC :whistling:
Incidently the Seagate HDD was less than impressed with my percussive maintenance and gave up immediately! I can't blame it though

Yes, you don't normally see them for less than £80 so it has been suggested by a few sources. :p

Does anyone know if 2.5" 1Tb laptop hard discs exist. If you like to have a library of HD films, 500 GB will still fill up quickly.

No. This is currently the largest you can buy. Some notebooks allow you to replace the optical drive with another hard drive. Some of the larger Sony notebooks already have two hard drives in a RAID configuration.
