Thats a lot of money for a low-end budget all-in-one sound system.
Will stick to separates, thanks. I like good sound.
#3
I am needing to update my cinema system tbh I am considering this, unless someone can recommend some seperates that decode everything this has, and comes in at the same price I may well get one of these.
#4
I was on the verge of buying this but then I read some reviews and apparently the sound isn't great on it. I ended up deciding to give it a miss.

I would argue that this represents good value if you don't want the hassle of purchasing a separates based home cinema system. For under £349, I somehow think you'll struggle to find an reciever/amp, speakers, cables and a blue ray player for under that price.

I personally wouldn't buy it but would say for anyone that wants a one box solution to go for it, yes there are better systems but if the price is right...

Excellent price for a Blu-Rau all in one. Not everyone can afford a seperates system myself included so this looks to be a good deal. Good find.

Does Blue ray use 7.1 surround sound?
#8
Just had an email from www.dads.com with an offer on this exact same system for 449.950 so this deal is well hot.

Hi

I'm looking for a surround sound system, but want to pay around £200 - £250 for it.
Can anyone reccomend a good one that i can connect the usual Plasma, dvd, xbox and possibly Wii?

Looks like a good system on paper. also i think its actually 1000w according to the samsung website

if you go here and use the audio filter to select 7.1 it will show blu rays with 7.1, which is currently about 5% of those on this list, i dont know how representative this is of all blu-rays but they have a list of 1400+

Heres a list of all Blu-ray movies that has a 7.1 track

Its debatable whether you would hear a decernable difference (to say a decent DTS bitrate) on a all one system with regarding the HD audio tracks. But this looks pretty good value compared to some of the DVD Htib anyway, so I can see the appeal as an entry level solution.

Wireless speakers tend to be a bit of a gimmick TBH as they still have to be powered from the mains.

maybe a mis price, back up to £449.99 now!!!

back down to 349.99 now!!!

As a budget alternative to this or seperates the Samsung HT-Z310r is available, delivered for £ 149.99 from Comet, PC World or Dixons.

You will need a seperate Blu Ray or PS3 for Blu Ray, but it will upscale dvd's.

Has Optical IN, Hdmi out plus some nice features like ipod dock etc.

whoever lists the Samsung stuff on cdiscount needs to be sacked :(

the made a mess of the TV Bundle last week, wonder if they'll be calling those who have ordered this today and tell them its an error or offer them it at a different various rate :( to the one now on the site.

Any chance of a review when you've got it all set up? I'm seriously thinking of buying this set up but can't seem to find any reviews anywhere.
#26
Well i've got it set up, and am quite happy with it, it's more than loud enough for my living room 15ftx15ft, the ipod dock is an added bonus as is the streaming from a pc (although you will need a wireless bridge or the as yet unreleased USB dongle rumoured to cost £50-£80!!) there is more than enough speaker cable for my needs, although a wireless unit is available i believe.

The remote is comfortable and can control the TV as well, the front tall speakers can be halved in size and wall mounted, it actually matches my sharp TV quite well, it works with AQUOS link as well, which is a bonus, DVD's look really good, cant comment on the blu ray as i haven't got round to buying a disc yet!

oh and the actual unit is described on my TV as the BD-1250 a review of which can be found here

Happy to answer any questions if i can

Just got this today. Goon, are you finding the fan noise quite loud? That is the first impression I get although I will have to let it run for a while to see.

BR pictures are excellent, SD surprisingly good too, infact from a distance it looks like HD. Soundwise, great again. The iPod dock is fantastic, the sound is just superb. Looking forward to playing with this on my day off on Wednesday (if i can get used to the fan noise!)

Oh, it looks beautiful too. I also have a Sharp telly so the glossy finish matches my TV.
#28
I can only hear the fan with my ear 2ft away, and the volume turned down.
