This product is available from Currys and PC world but no longer appears on either of their websites.

This was previously a hot deal at £146 but usually retails for about £200. IT's a nice surround sound system most importantly with DTS and OPTICAL INPUT.

Also upscales to 1080p
Plays DVX from Mass storage device + discs
Supports Samsung wireless speakers
Supports bluetooth audio

I spotted it in Swansea but they only had one left and had lost the remote so I gave it a miss, they had one in PC world in Cardiff and 2 more in Currys cardiff (newport road) This suggests this is fairly widely available in various DSG shops and not just a one off bargain.

I just bought it so have not tried it out yet but reviews are very good and seems like a very good price

according to the buyers reviews on this website it plays them fine http://www.reevoo.com/reviews/mpn/samsung/ht_x310r#

I purchased this item for its usb option and I can say I am not disappointed I have played over 20 avi files and divx, via a usb pen drive and a external hard drive without any problems,

That's what I thought but does not seem to be getting very hot.

Thanks for the info repped

Yeh strange that. Maybe one of those slow starters
I went looking for one in my local PC World, but all they had was a dusty looking display model. So I went for a Panasonic sc-pt460. This was going for £169.95. I missed the £130 approx price a few days ago, but liked the look enough to pay a bit more, and loving the sound I'm getting through it.
I really think you will struggle to find the features of the OP for that kind of cash.
Heat and rep added (sorry its only 1% )

I have had this a while its not bad, however a few annoying things to point out :

disk tray takes ages to open

you can only get the menu up in dvd mode

when you switch audio fuction it takes about 20 secs to react

But on the plus side :

Rear speaker wires are pretty long

plays all divx i have thrown at it(can take a while reading)

Really good sound via optical, gives surround effect via other sources which is not bad at all, or you can switch to normal stereo mode

If you get a divx file or dvd out of sync you can go into the dvd menu and change sync delay which works quite well, although change it back after you have watched the film or it can still be out of sync when you switch to another source later

From what I have seen this isn't going to blow you away but then it is very very cheap.
Bargain I say.
#8
Does it decode DTS through the optical input ? If somebody know please answer to me,it is important for me.
Thanks!!

its a steal for an excellent product
#10
Its good cheap player.

some problems with high pitch noise that only effects certain people.
#11
Voted cold, this system sounds bad to other Receivers + speakers available for the same sort of money.
#12
Looks like a good price to me.

I have a decent upscaling dvd already and all the surround sound systems I see include one too, am I able to just buy a surround sound set up without the dvd player? Maybe a separate amp with a pass through so everything runs through that and outputs the sound?
#13
very good player, got mine hooked up alongside a wd media player and when i play br rips the dts sound is amazing....

I bought this last year when it was £200+

Just a couple of features that haven’t been mentioned. The player has Bluetooth so you can play music directly from your phone. Not sure about other bluetooth products as I haven't tried it.

Sound is excellent for DVDs’ and optical in, not too good for general audio CDs. Slightly slow on loading up and navigating through menus. Remote is functional but slightly overcrowded if I’m being honest.

BUT overall an excellent home cinema for people that don’t want anything too flash or expensive (you wouldn’t be looking here if you were after Harman Kardon or Denon!)

Hi guys,

Bought this last year from DIXONS, paid £150.00 after usinf a promotion code £70.00 off.

Did everything as expected, played all DIVX files I had, sound was fine at medium levels, any higer you get a bit of distortion. Bluetooth function was great, wirelsessly connected my phone to the system to listen to music.

The only reason I had to send it back was because of the high pitched sound it made whilst in standby. It was pretty loud and had to go, not sure if it was a faulty one or just a one off.

Now have a Panasonic sc-ptx50 and its great.

I tried mine out last night and for the hour before it broke it was great.

It started making an odd buzzing (the unit not the speakers) then cut out all together.

I just hope I can find another one.

good start - just missing the part listing the other receivers + speakers for the same sort of money but better quality?

it's a quagmire googling cos it's impossible to guage price v quality on the many units available within this price bracket so a few recomendations would be appreciated

a bit concerned about this high pitched buzzing in standby , seems more than a one off?

ye especially as mine broke, I still want another one though as IMO the sound was excellent for the money and I can always return it. I did not hear any high pitched buzzing but then maybe its supposed to buzz.
I just hope my deal has not caused everyone to clear cardiff + swansea out of them.

I got another one, had to take the display unit though since it was the only one they had left. I got to keep my speakers etc but just took the display unit itself.

called in a stock check on 0844 561 0000 and they(PC world/currys) didn't have any on their system - anywhere, this might be quite limited end of line stock so if anyone comes across any remaining stock around east london please please update.

thanks

I dont get buzzin on mine.

Plays al DIVX and avi thrown at it.

Speakers are good with nice wall mounting brackets and the speakers clip onto them.

Any cold voters dont know what there talking about.

Samsung does not make good home theaters. Stay away.

Been working fine with no buzzing at all. Divx playback is ok played everything I tried but image quality not quite as good as my xbox. I appreciate this is not a top of the range sound system but i really don't think you could do better for £130.

thanks for the update mate - just found one end of the line but no wires or manual, the store manager agreed to knock off £25 then I asked for the remote and he said there wasn't one? would have been a steal at £104 but I just couldnt compromise the remote. are these available from manufacturer (Seeing as they are end of line) anyway I'll check ebay and samsung and ring up the store if they will knock off whatever the price of the remote is

*UPDATE*

quite a few ex display units availabe in east london along the A13/A406 corridor, PCW becton, dixons ilford, currys gants hill, currys chingford (2 units, 1 display, 1 faulty), currys enfield (2) only problem is none of them have boxes, speaker cables or remote control (I didn't reach enfield) sold as is £129 - PCW becton offered £25 off but with the currys website listing the remote at £30+ ...meh.

for anyone who's interested, I saw the display units in all stores mentioned. their instore stock check showed 1 each in currys/PCW at lakeside thurrock.
if anyone can match a homecinema with like for like functions/quality in this price range please please post.

Can't you get the store to provide the remote from a faulty one? Or are they all missing remotes too?

explored every option to either get a remote or a discount to the value of the remote/cables ...wasn't worth it to pay 129 then buy a remote ...all the stores visited none had remotes, i guess they've been on display a long long time - shame really, so wanted one, anywho ...the search continues

Shame, they got a faulty one with a remote in cardiff currys and another one with a remote (which hopefully isnt faulty) in cardiff PC world. I guess that's probably too far for you to go though.
