What's the difference between this and the K551?

EDIT: K551 is 3.1 vs 2.1.

I have a silly question, maybe one of you can help with. I have got the k450, at the moment I have it wired up via hdmi, so I have my sat box hdmi cable plugged into HDMI IN port on the sound bar then I have another hdmi cable plugged into HDMI OUT port on the sound bar which is connected to the tv. The issue is that it works with the sat box but if I change channels or connect a laptop/device into another free hdmi port on the tv then the sound bar doesnt work with it.
I have HDMI ARC enabled on my tv, tv is a phillips.

Do I need to change my setup or is there something I am missing?

I haven't connected the optical cable on the soundbar, I just went with hdmi and thought it would be all good.

Have you tried swapping the HDMI cables on the sound bar - sound daft I know - just try it, you may be surprised
Or connect the sat box direct to tv and use ARC on TV/SB

Connect everything (your devices) to the TV.

Then from the TVs ARC Port put that to HDMI IN on the Soundbar.

What that does is, all the sound comes to the TV but because it should pick up the Soundbar through ARC it will send the sound via that.

You set your Soundbar to D.In and anything that's playing on the TV should come through.

I have the J551 here. I have mine set up with Optical however - Previously ARC (I need the HDMI ports elsewhere).

Thank you so much for the reply. At first I am sure I had it setup this way. It was only after I got it wall mounted that it wasn't working and the person installing it for me said it should be setup with both hdmi cables in. However the problem that I now have is that my sat box plays via soundbar fine but any other hdmi connected device will not.

I will try that out what you said because I was so sure I had it first setup this way and was working.

No problem, and I'm happy to help further should you need it.

Worth a try to check with both ports on the Soundbar (Out and In). As I can't fully remember which one I had it in now. But I do know that all my devices were into the TV which then pushed the sound through Arc. So whatever is on the TV comes through the Soundbar.

So be sure to interchange if one Port doesn't work.

Just had a look at my manual online, it says it should work how you have it set up. Set top box into In; Arc into Out. But I never contemplated that setup, put everything in the TV.

Optical from TV to Soundbar works also with zero issues (and I prefer as I have a spare hdmi). Downside being you can't use HDMI-CEC (control with one remote). I ended up getting a Logitech Harmony 650 and never looked back.

Hdmi sound bar direct to Tv then all sound through Tv plays through sound bar.
