With its super-high 8.1 megapixel resolution and a 30x total zoom (3x optical, 5x digital), the Digimax L80 guarantees superb, detailed shots every time. A large 2.5" high-res LCD makes image framing and reviewing a real pleasure, and the special wide-view technology means that images on the screen can be viewed from extreme angles - up to 180 degrees - allowing you to share your shots with a group easily.

With high sensitivity to ISO 800 this high-performance model takes great pictures in low light without the usual image blurring. And the motion capture mode lets you take a rapid burst of up to 30 shots - perfect for capturing a sequence or fast moving objects. This model is not just a digital camera! The MPEG4 movie mode with sound, with its successive recording function and movie stabiliser delivers a camcorder-like experience - all in a handy digital compact.

wonder why this is getting such a low rating ? Looks to be a good little camera to me, at a good price. :?

i guess because there is a cheapo one with similar specs for £50 just further down the page, but you get what you pay for with cameras so id go with the recognised brand,

Thanks for the replies guys and the heat DJTiredboy :)

I thought it was a pretty good price for the brand and spec. Cheapest around for this camera anyway.

For such a high pixel count, the 3x Optical 10x Digital zoom is very poor. Everyone should know by now that Digital zoom is worth zilch. It doesn't do anything your PC could do with the pictures afterwards. Now 10x Optical zoom would really be worth having at that price even with lower pixel count.

I read somewhere that anything over 5megapixel would be a waste for anything other than poster print size pictures.

10x optical zoom is pretty useles without a tripod. Camera shake at that focal length would be very difficult to control without using one.

3x optical zoom is pretty much standard on this size camera (small point & shoot, compact).

8mp and the Li-Ion battery make it a far better buy than the Vivitar. Samsung cameras are pretty good imho (for the price)

I don't disagree, it's more a case that 10x digital is more than useless - it's a dead figure used to fool people into thinking it's better than it is, that's all.

I totally agree. Although the same could be said for 10x optical on a compact digital. I don't know many people that would carry a tripod with their compact digital.
