Excellent bargain I think, this for a laser printer (with very good reviews) plus a toner cartridge that prints circa 700 pages.

It is a mono so only black printing, good for reports, essays, letters, dissertations etc...

The toner cartridge alone retails at £45 these print around 1500 pages.

Laser printers really are good value for money.

Just picked one up about 20 mins ago.

Is it a starter toner - with ink for 6 pages?

This seems like a good deal. I think this was about £80 before?
I need to get a new printer and considering laser to save money, so might go for this :)

cant go wrong with samsung mono lasers for the home, cheap relaible well built and generous toner with machine

only thing id go for over this one is network port/wireless and duplex (save paper)

unlike other brands samsung are usually generous....

had samsung lasers for the past 10 years, 1st one a 1520 had a 1000 page cart (last 4500 pages), sold it ebay after about 5-6 years use for £20 with little toner left (only paid £40 for it!) as wanted a newtork on and got a good deal on a 3051n (paid £45!), cart was supposed to be 1000 pages (lasted near 7000, got through almost 3 boxes x 2500 paper!), replacement cart is non-sammy as they can be expensive but cost £40 from svp.co.uk and has lasted about 5000 pages so far (about 1/2 full still)

good idea, but that means when the ink goes its £45 quid to get a new toner

sell it on ebay or freecycle it and buy a new one or get toner cart refilled (assuming you still can - older sammys you can)

Have you got this specific printer at the moment?

I dont know where you pulled that interesting fact from but here's a link with the information about the toner that comes with it (700 pages)

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/print-solutions/print-solutions/mono-printers/ML-1665/XEU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification

If you were to print 700 pages out at a library printer it would cost at least 5p a page which would cost you £35. In effect you are getting a laser printer for £15.

Yes the replacment cartridge is £42 but you 1500 pages from this, which again at 5p a sheet would cost you £90...plus the convinience.

I won't even get into inkjet comparison because they're just silly for cost efficiency ;)
