Samsung LE32A558P3F @ Costco £550.00 inc Vat

I think that this TV may be obsolete but its a bit of a bargain if you ask me. I hope I am not proved wrong as I have just bought it.

The model is Samsung LE32A558P3F

I was looking for a 32" LCD panel and I was looking at a price of around £500 for a good 1080i panel from Samsung which was 100Hz refresh rate. I didn't expect to find a 1080p in this price region. After doing the web search for 1080p and 1080i models I had kind of settled on the LE32M series Samsung 100Hz screen at £466 from digitaldirect.co.uk (inc delivery and vat).

I didn't expect anything special from Costco as I find that their electricals whilst reasonable aren't normally that competitive. I think I was wrong as I saw this set on display on Sunday and with 10 minutes beforee they closed I took the leap and went and purchased it. Big bonus is their 3 year warranty as standard which is reassuring on electricals of this value.

So they have plenty of stock and whilst I think that this is old range from Samsung it looks cracking and has a fantastic picture. Hope someone else benefits and if I've cocked up and bought a duffer let me know quickly :)

By the way this TV can be seen on Pixmania where they are selling it at over £700. I don't expect its worth that but it must be worth over £600 if you ask me.

good price £1065 here with delivery and 3yr warranty.

Great deal although I'd question the need for 1080p on 32in panel.

What about this from Laskys, SAMSUNG LE32R87BDX/XEU, £409.99

Excellent reviews here http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/review/2007/06/02/Samsung-LE-32R87BD-32in-LCD-TV/p1

As nordberg mentions you have to "question the need for 1080p on 32in panel."

Might be good if you game a bit closer to the TV than you watch movies. Otherwise I agree.

Do you think? I'd advise people to not fall for the hype. There really is no discernible difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32in panel. Not to the human eye anyway!

Are you saying that from experience? I would say that it depends on how far away you sit from the TV...

The closer you sit the more you are going to notice it.

Yes I am. I concede that on video games you may notice a bit of difference, but on your run of the mill BR or HD DVD, you won't notice the difference regardless of how far you sit.

This is the latest model that has been released recently and has a higher contrats ratio than the previous generation. Its available at John Lewis now for 749 http://www.johnlewis.com/230476258/Product.aspx, so I'd say this deal is HOT !
