After a year of faffing but also wanting a 37", I've gone for this - spent all day researching and it seemed like such a steal after the cashback (either Quidco or Topcashback) - HDTVtest gives it a superb review, considering its position and price tag (even cheaper here).

It's supposedly great for gamers (low input lag), SD TV content and Blu-rays. It might not matter to some, but for me it's going in a bedroom so a 32" is better and with a short viewing distance, I'd prefer the 1080P offered.

I was initially going to go for the bargain Tosh on BestBuy but this tops it by far for my requirements (PS3, gaming, large Blu-ray collection).

I'd been deliberating over it for a while anyway and reading reviews, but yes, certainly helpful :) I think it's a great deal anyway and good on ya for posting.

TCB are offering 15.15%. Best Buy are calculating it at 305.23 after the 'TV1' code is applied (although I made it 303.63 - don't know if it's worth questioning it for the sake of a hundred pence or so) and with TCB, I think it should be about £259.

Have you succumbed and bought anything yet?

This is a Samsung television its like comparing a Vauxhall to a Ferrari they both get you from A to B but one is cheaper.

I think the next cheapest is Amazon just over 300 so this is a hot deal!

decisions, decisions ... £305.24 @ Amazon or £329.95 at John Lewis (with 5 year warranty) or this one with the risk with cashback and perhaps slower delivery

Been looking for a while now for a good quality LCD, this is 1 of 3 i have been hunting down a price for and at that price this is actually a steal.

no actually its not thought it came with 5 year warranty. if you are looking for a TV just know you will be hard pushed to get better deals than John Lewis.

I had the same conundrum, I went for the JL one with a 5 year warranty. Absolutely love this TV!

(Also, OP, you aren't supposed to include cashback in your final price figure for your title, as it isn't 100% guarenteed.)

I went for John Lewis deal. 5 yr warranty can't be sniffed at!

Is it this SAMSUNG that has the bad tinny sound? Check before buying!!

The Sony 403 on there is the better deal as you can get the VAT back as well on it!

The TV1 code doesn't seem to work on the Sony for me though.

Just been to quidco site and realised the codes are model specific.

a penny cheaper with 5 year warranty at Richer Sounds (in-store only though) compared to John Lewis - might be preferable if you'd rather not wait in for delivery
#17
You get 9% off with the best buy code, 15% quidco and then 17.5% from Sony.

I have this TV and the sound is ok for me ... it depends what you want : to hear what they are saying on tv or use it for a party ... or maybe you have huge rooms...

Just to confirm my quidco has just tracked at £52.45 so tv works out at just over £252 :)

£449.99
- £39.05 (TV8 code)
- £61.64 (£410.94 x 15% cashback) (62.25 at topcashback as it's 15.15% it seems)
- £61.18 (VAT back - £410.94 x 14.89%) (http://www.sony.co.uk/res/attachment/file/98/1237478813798.pdf)

= £288.12

that would be a bargain
BUT can anyone confirm BestBuy are "an authorised Sony dealer/reseller located in the UK" (it seems BestBuy have details of the cashback on their website so can't imagine they wouldn't be included in the promotion then)

Yes this is a crap Kevion or Medion, and Aldi have had pretty bad reviews in the past for these special TV deals (Which you can search for on this forum), for like a tenner more you are getting a Samsung so the choice is obvious

£449.99- £39.05 (TV8 code)- £61.64 (£410.94 x 15% cashback) (62.25 at topcashback as it's 15.15% it seems)- £71.91 (VAT back - £410.94 x 17.5%) (http://www.sony.co.uk/res/attachment/file/98/1237478813798.pdf)= £277.39that would be a bargain BUT can anyone confirm BestBuy are "an authorised Sony dealer/reseller located in the UK" (it seems BestBuy have details of the cashback on their website so can't imagine they wouldn't be included in the promotion then)

Doesnt work out as 17.5% of total price, works out closer to 15% (VAT is 17.5% of pre Vat price, not post VAT price) also dont belive BestBuy is one of the suppliers within the offer (not mentioned on Sony's offer site). Think there also may be something in the T&C's about not valid with other offers (but could be wrong)...

How do you claim the extra £52.45 from quidco for the samsung 32" tv.....????

i've edited my post re vat rate - you're quite right

bestbuy have put the details of the VAT back on their site - so if Sony don't honour it, it would be possible to pursue bestbuy for the misleading advertising.

Weighing up all offers, the JLP one ain't bad (inc 5 year warranty) ... BUT using the TV1 voucher code and 15% cash back from Quidco just makes this a steel at £252. I don't think the 5 year warranty from JLP is worth over £70 !!!!

Best Buy ... you rock :)

I fancied the stand too but no, code only applies to the standalone model. Keep your eye out for some bargain stands or mounts on here though.

I'm waiting for my TCB to track but I'm sure it'll be fine.

To those comparing it to an Aldi TV - I wouldn't(!) Don't get me wrong, I think a Tevion TV or budget model is fine if you just want to watch some DVDs or freeview on it, but if great all-round picture quality is important to you and particularly if you want to use it for gaming, then it's better to increase your budget a little and do your research. This came out tops for me.

Even if the cashback doesn't track, I won't be totally gutted - the nearest Richer Sounds to me is over 40 miles away and I've been let down by John Lewis on two occasions with TV deals (plus they're far away from me again) and I get the impression from some comments I've read on here and AVforums that their 5-year 'guarantee' is not always what it's often hoped it will be (it's not a 'warranty').

Delivery:
I was able to specify a day for delivery. Most days were free, so this was really handy and you don't have to wait for ages.

I just hope all goes smoothly as I don't want to be on here boring people with any grumbling!

Cheerio fn :)
