Nice find. Not a bad spec tv and with the 5yr guarantee I'd say its a definite contender in the bedroom television category. Have some heat OP. :)

Thanks, took the plunge and ordered....

Had been considering the Toshiba 32 with freeview HD also from JL @ £349.

"There’s also a USB port which allows you to directly connect devices and display photos and video."

anyone know if this tv plays divx etc?

There is no HD, you put the films on a USB HD or memory stick and it plays them from there.

Great deal.

£65 cheaper than Richer Sounds with the 5 year warranty. Also £60 cheaper than Amazons price.

For once I just took the plunge and bought it. (or more to the point my better half bought it for me as a gift!)

excellent price very tempting, but im gonna be waiting on a decent led tv deal around christmas time

Great deal. I wanted a Sony but at this price and spec, Samsung won! Lovin the gtee thing too ! Love this site nut it costs me a fortune!
#9
Will it play mkvs ?
#10
Anyone know if Richer Sounds will beat this price?
#11
Hmmmmm Samsung or Toshiba both have Freeview HD. I like the look of the Toshiba but is it worth £30 more.

Anyone bought from John Lewis before - is there after sales service good with the 5yr guarantee?

Hopefully they will still have some stock by the time I decide!

Heat added, good find :-)

thanks - found it:

"The TV was easy to set up, the picture quality is good for an LCD, the user interface is very easy to navigate. There are plenty of input options, and the USB input plays every format I have thrown at it so far: .mpeg, .avi, .mkv (although the .mkv was a bit jerky - I have a feeling the processor in the TV can't keep up with getting that much info from the USB port). My only gripe is that the stand, which the description says is a swivel stand, does not swivel - the manual also doesn't mention anything about a swivelling stand. So minus one star for false advertisement on that front.

But otherwise a great value for money TV. "

and

"The Usb "Connect Share Movie" feature works very well. It has played all of my ripped DVD's so far, no problems. They range from Divx Avi's through to handbrake .Mkv files with H264 video and aac OR ac3 audio(manual only says it supports one of them, may be something to do with pass through to audio out socket).
The Dvd's covered a range of screen sizes and frame rate's all work very nicely. Only file it didnt play was one downloaded Avi. Oh, and it dosnt support embedded subtitles or chapters in the Mkv's(however its fast forward control is good)"

and

"The best feature for me on this TV was the USB input, I already have the WDTV device and has served me well but when I plugged my external hard rive into the USB it immediately recognised the device - the menus are in a nice easy format and it played every video I have , from mp4 & AVI to .MKV files (this was the biggest surprise to me that it could play the High Def file type, I have HD files and the video quality is astounding),

You can resize the videos to fit the screen using the tools button and skip quickly through the file using the cursors on the remote (instead of using the fast forward and rewind, people who watch AVI's know the frustration of losing your video postion and having to fast forward at a maximum of 16x to the correct place!).

All in all, if you want a full HD TV at a low price then look no further, the only downside for me was that you can't record via USB but apart from that I can't fault it. "

and

"It will play practically all files (SD and HD)including AVI MKV MP4 etc. (The only file it hasn't been able to play to date is an MKV file with embedded subtitle streams, fortunately these are not common)
It can handle separate SRT subtitle files and there is even a facility to advance/ delay the subtitles if necessary. "

ALTHOUGH is the LE32C530 the same as the LE32C580J1?

sorry to be thick but can you watch iplayer etc on this?
#16
Just ordered one for my parents bedroom. Spotted it myself last night on John Lewis, but didn't want to post here until it was in the bag. Had been looking at a similar spec Toshiba on Amazon, but the five year warranty at John Lewis was the clincher. Best price for this TV anywhere and free Saturday delivery too.

Best 32" Freeview HD TV deal going at the mo methinks.
