Will this telly be good enough for my ocotopus?

If you live near Cardiff, there's a bargain of a clearance one for £399 (1 left) for an A686 which is 40", 1080p, 100Hz Motion flow... grab that bargain, i live too far :(

Seems like a good deal. Looks like 37's are coming down in price.

I will ask in this thread as well.... has anyone actually seen one available in the shop.... so many of these Richer Sounds deals are instore only, and fail to materialise when you go looking.

The last time I asked, not one single positive response leads me to believe nothing has changed and it is the same as it always was non-existent offers, presumably hoping you will buy something else once you have trekked there :-(

"This web price may be cheaper than the price shown in-store, so please mention that you've seen this offer online."
Then they tell you that price was for one in worst condition than they have, so you would be better off buying the one they have in stock for 50% more, that has been by experience twice with them.

You can get the 37" Toshiba full HD for £399.99 delivered on amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001TUYQ50/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

Its probably a better TV too - it has resolution+ that is supposed to be really good at making SD pictures look better ( amongst lots of other features).

Same thing here with Richer Sounds - never have the best deals in stock when you go. Good deals if you can get them, but the in'store bargains rarely seem to materialise.

Got one of these in the Kingston store on Sat. They said they had five in stock. Excellent TV.

Take it off the default settings, turn down the edge sharpening a bit and it can make SD content look excellent. Waiting to fork out on somehting that can generate an HD signal to really test it out...

Heard a lot of people go on about RS but are they any good ??? plus anyone have this tv...is that any good ???.

sorry about the questions but thinking about buying

Totally disagree there, i would glady pay the extra for a decent tv, sorry but from what i see today of the cheap Saindburys tv, it really isnt that good.

The toshiba on the other hand is just pure quality, even the SD picture is amazing.

I have had that TV for about 10months now.

Its awesome and I recommend it to anyone, The picture is first class and with SKY HD linked up it looks very good.

Got the 40" version of this. Its an OK tv, but its plagued by motion blur and poor response times.

Its pretty terrible for gaming, but half decent for non horror/dark SD/HD pictures.

And before you say it yes I have everything set up correctly. Turning off noise reduction helps a ton (you can imagine how bad this TV is with it on, seriously...).

All in all you expect these things from a cheap LCD.

I have no doubt its a decent tv as i recommend my cousin to a 40" toshiba about a year ago , im just thinking its not worth the extra because the difference in picture is tiny unless you are comparing both the cheapy i got and this straight out of the box as if you are then the tosh is miles better, the cheapy needed a bit of tuning of the picture setting to get right.

The 40" is suppose to have a superior panel too. :/
#17
6 series is much better than this (and a lot more in price of course!)
#18
what would this one be like compared to the LG37" model they have at the same price on the site. 37LG5020 ???
#19
With Richersounds just phone your local store, and if they don't have any in stock they will order one in for you. That's what I did a couple of years ago, when I was paying around £400 for a 32" 720p model lol

I wanted to buy a stereo system from Richer Sounds a few years ago. It was agreat price and so naturally it was sold out and they had none in stock. I tried quite a few stores across London but all I got was totally frustrated.

I wrote and complained and got a personal letter back from the chairman himself Julian Richer. He arrange for one to be put on one side for me and gave me an extra £100 of vouchers to spend in his stores.

That's what i call customer service. The stores can be pain as the stock flies out but if you have a problem write to Julian and he really does sort it out for you.

Wonder if I could do the same with BA? (not)

That quite probably won't apply to the 530 - there are plenty of cheap lower quality 40" panels around. Even with the 550 only some of them seem to have the good ones.

There was a thread over at avforums somewhere if you can be bothered searching - seems they come with labels on the sets telling you what panel it is.

Hi all,

I saw the comments on this thread with regards to stock availability and wanted to take this opportunity to reply.

I can assure you the last thing we would want would be to antagonise our customers by intentionally advertising stock which doesn’t exist. Doing so would be extremely poor customer service - not to mention illegal - and we would have absolutely nothing to gain in doing so!

There has been a high demand for the Samsung LE37B530, however the majority of our stores do have stock available and we also have hundreds in our main warehouse available for our stores to order.

Of course, if any customer is having problems getting hold of this particular model then please do let me know and I will do my best to get one for you asap.

Many thanks,

sorry to hijack the deal, but is this telly better or the 37LG5020 model that they are selling for the same price ????

Nice to see some feedback from the store, on a side note. Why does the free returns pickup policy only apply up to thirty two inch as logically it's only above that size where you really need it to be picked up. This assumes you have a car but if you picked it up then I assume you have one.

Hi,

We offer a free, comprehensive, “at home” service for all TV’s that are 32” and above. TV’s that are smaller than 32” in size can be returned to any of our high street stores, or we can arrange collection for a small charge.

I hope this answers your query although please do not hesitate to contact me direct if I can be of any further help.

Many thanks,

Just bought the last one from the Hull store. York and Leeds had sold out although York did say that they could order in for me.
Wife gone nuts though as i think we should have gone for the 32" version really so now stuck with the 37" !!!.

I did get the talk from the York branch though at one point about...sorry sir but this isnt in stock at the moment, but feel free to come in and have a look at our other models that are slightly higher priced !!!.
Still the service was first class at Hull

Just been in to the Glasgow store, and they don't have any in stock.

I had to ask the guy if could order one from their main warehouse, as he didn't seem very forthcoming in helping me!

I've been told they will try and order one, and phone me if it comes in... I won't be holding my breath though! :|

Will let you know if it arrives!

Again, I know you do reply to these criticisms, but the same stuff as I have found in the past comes in whenever Richer Sounds gets a mention..... this one today:

Got my TV!

Got a call from the Glasgow branch this morning to say that a TV had arrived for me... and picked it up this lunchtime.

Chuffed. :)

Now all I need is my Sky HD!
