Would this be better than the Panasonic Viera 42" Plasma posted last night for the same price?

This 1 is 1080p and the Panasonic is 720p

Depends what you want I suppose.

There is a big argument at the mo over which is the better, plasma and LCD's.

Personal choice. If you're unsure go and check both out in a Currys, Dixons, Comet etc

Is this one of the ones that will play DIVx / MKV's through the USB port?
#6
Answer seems to be yes as long as the model number Argos have posted is correct... needs to have X in the model name not Q.

Copied from another post about this TV, here are my thoughts:

I had the B530 version of this TV (the same TV with one less HDMI and no USB port) from John Lewis when it was £429.00, I thought I had a massive bargain and was fairly happy when I set it up although it was much bigger than expected and looked out of place in our front room.

Then the 37" Sony W5500 deal come up on here in Sainsburys and I ended up getting one knowing I could take it back but thinking that 37" would be a better size for our room and I could still return the Samsung.

I set up the TV's side by side and the picture on the Sony was way way better, the difference was significant on freeview (Humax box) and DVD. I've always thought Sony's were overpriced but it was really was that much better that I knew I couldn't go back to the Samsung.

The Samsung is not a bad TV but I feel there are better TV's out there if you can shop around / wait and I know this might annoy people as the Sony is not available at £399 but thought it might be worth posting for anyone in two minds.

Cheers

I have just bought a similar tv for 398.97 Samsung LE37B651T from currys it was display model

1080p, 120,000:1 contrast, 100 hz

havent set up yet but hopefully it does mkv files as well and im not sure wether its wireless...........for the price its resonable i feel, but i don't know wether a brand new one boxed one like this deal would have been better.......

in two minds wether to take it back and get argos, its just the 100hz and contrast which is better..........

From all reports the 6 Series is a massive step up from the 5 series here.

I would keep yours for sure!

I've got one of these (July 2009). It's a fantastic telly, I spent days reading reviews and scouring av forums and all I found was praise. I've had no problems with it, set it up right and the picture is stunning. It plays mkv, avi off a hdd via the usb perfectly although I very rarely use it as I have a WD TV Live for that. It looks nice too which is always a good thing.

Just bought the 40" one. I am sure I read that the 37" panel is completely different, so statements on the image quality are not necessarily valid for this model.
For the price you can't get a better TV and pretty much every review will agree.

Why? What do you have to show us all that is better?

I've got a mate like you that disagrees with everything, basically just because he can and for no other reason. He comes up on my phones as D**k Head

The problem with Samsung LCDs is they use a whole bundle of different panels, even under the same model name. Some are good, some aren't, so reviews are pretty meaningless.

On top of that, the B55x series have different internal electronics too. The modelcode should tell you (XXU ending is better), but sometimes they'll ship you other types.
