30,000 to 1 Contrast Ratio

Use of the 10% of voucher brings this down to £599.99 delivered, or you can choose the collect from store option and get it for £585. Also 2% quidco could bring this down even more. Dixons are also doing a similar deal (once you've used the relevant vouchers, but I think this just beats the Dixons deal). A great TV, not many reviews but there is a long thread on avforums about it and the general opnion is very good.

I think this is a really good deal, sure there are some cheaper 40-42" panels out there but not matching anywhere near these specs. I believe this set even has a usb port for listening to audio and viewing jpg's - this is unconfirmed with the retailer.

Is there a reason why no-one is rating this deal?.. I have been looking for a quality 1080p for a while now with a good contrast ratio and this seems to tick all of the boxes!. The only other one I saw on here recently was a 42" LG 1080p for 551.00 during the bank holiday weekend at empire direct, but that was a lower contrast ratio...Am I missing something!?

I thought this would do better aswell, it kind of got over shadowed on the day by the 42" JVC LCD for £629 from the same retailer, but the Sammy is the better TV and deal in my opinion. The JVC has black level issues. People on Avforums seem to agree this is the best value 40" LCD available right now.

I'm very happy with mine.

Many thanks to the OP. Ordered one and added heat yesterday.

It's out of stock at the moment, but I'm prepared to wait a couple of weeks to get such a high-spec TV at this price.

Did anyone else go for the edXtra card at £29.99 to get a 3 year guarantee thrown in?

Yes I did, it's really an extra 2 years as the 1st year is covered for free by samsung, but for £30 it's still good value. E.g. Samsung wanted £149 to cover the TV for 2 extra years. Plus you get the edeXtra card so if you by anything else from empire direct in the next 12 months thats over £200 you'll get a free 3 year warranty.

I'm just getting the error that the vouchers are expired, is there any special trick I should use?

I'm using the username edsave and typing the codes in, not copying and pasting...

I am getting the same error message now...

I wish I had bought it sooner!!!

If you had used code TV22 in addition you would have got it for £622 (every little helps!)

Quoted contrast is dynamic not static, so blacks levels won't be great.

Still voted hot, as its still a good deal:thumbsup:

I don't thing it would be only two weeks, But I wish you the best, been scammed before with Empiredirect with the very same tv set and had to fight to get my refund, I'm not saying that you would have this happening with you but be prepared for the worst.

It's in stock at Empire Direct. Shame both of the vouchers have expired. It was £649.99 but out of stock at Empire 2 weeks ago, then they got them in stock and reduced the price to £599.99 last Wednesday, presumably to compete with Comet, Currys and Dixons who all had this TV for sale at that price last week. The price has gone back up everywhere else, but Empire have kept it at £599.99. The latest 10% voucher at Empire expired last Thursday, so you could have had it for £554.99 delivered + 2% Quidco. I almost bought it at that price but didn't and am now regretting it.

Can anyone recommend a good portable - 18" around the £150 mark?

I own this tv, and I like it. Used Egg Card and got instant cash back when I bought from dixons a few weeks ago.

Looks a good deal, voted vot.

I posted this up last week including a 10% off voucher bringing it to £539 + delivery but hardly anyone voted :x

Still voted hot anyway - my one arrived last week, VERY happy with it - recommend searching for settings as it didn't look it's best out of the box - there are some AV forums about with some very handy threads explaining how to setup the picture optimally - these are the settings I used, made a big difference! http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=11287410&postcount=1499

xbox360 looks amazing through this TV, standard def looks brilliant when setup correctly, and HD Planet Earth is awesome to watch!

100% recommend this TV from my experience so far!

This set DOES have a USB port - haven't used it for audio/jpegs yet, will have a try this evening and get back to you all... as far as I know the port can be used for upgrading firmware though.

There was a thread where you could this tv from currys for £569 delivered using a 5% code and it wasnt voted this hot. Why not?
And where did that thread go, it has dissapeared. Why do threads go missing?

Very funny indeed! I got mine for £584 inc delivery and extended 3 year warranty! Would have been 554 delivered without the warranty though, let alone quidco!

Can't say I didn't try though... :whistling:
