Cant really get a better spec than that. Wow.

Yeah, I paid £799 for one, cracking TV, just seem difficult to get hold of and PC world messing me around with the QuidCo.
#3
Great deal. I was holding out for a Sony 40w4000 but this'll do nicely. Now I just have to put up with standard def content until the fabled PS3 price drop next month...
#4
Excellent price for this! Just ordered.

i so want this but must resist! great find

Has anyone had any bad experiences with this TV?

Same here... waited for Sony prices to go down but they went the opposite way  so took this one instead... pity for the warranty (i was hoping for a pricematch but there is no way anyone can match it at this price). Do you know if there is a company that sells extended warranty for flat panels at reasonable prices?

Not at all. I've got the 40" A686, which is the same panel, with cosmetic changes etc and I paid £700 for it 2 months ago, so this is a good deal - get them while you can, because stocks are dwindling pretty quickly.

SD TV looks really good from about 7 feet away; Blu Ray is superb and 1080p rips from my laptop on HDMI are great too.

I was personally holding out for a plasma of similar spec, but this has such good black levels, that the difference in most real-life rooms was negligible, but LCD was for me, due to use with the laptop.

had the 46" for a week or so

fookin great tv, i was looking at the 52", but it didnt warrant the £500 for an extra 6 inches, imo

Great Deal
I got this tv a couple of weeks ago for £675 and I though that was a good price (£22 quidco pending from pixmania)

The 686 isn't properly black - it's Rose Black, so you can see a feint red tint in the most odd lighting on occasions. Stunning piece of TV :-D

the 656 is rose black, the 686 is black - with it seems no hint of red, which is shown on the following link

Well, having an A686 40" in front of me now, I wholeheartedly disagree. I can categorically tell you it is Rose Black  99% black with a hint of red - not vulgar and completely red like that link.

Firmware updates might sort that out - there was a new update quite recently. Otherwise, using the 3.5mm audio jack on the side of the TV will resolve this issue, albeit in two channel sound.

My brother recently purchased this TV and the IQ is superb. The only problem with this TV compared to my Sony 40V4000, it doesn't look as good from the outside and the remote looks like toy and feels bit cheap. Other then that the 100hz mode is amazing!

reviews i've found have mentioned that the input lag is 60ms worse off than the sony 40w4000 (which is better than v4000). so its not tv for gamers.
#24
I think there were just a few cheaper ones. There were 4 left when I last looked, but the more expensive ones were there too, so it may have just been a quick special to get people buying, it was about to work for me!
Great post thanks, I just need to more decisive!

There is no lag on mine at all whatsoever and I game a fair bit. I think firmware updates sorted any lagging out.

Is this the same TV that was in Argos for £538 with a 3 year guarantee?

Thanks
#27
I don't think so. From memory, the Argos one didn't do 24hz or 100hz. I nearly went for that one but the lack of 24hz put me off.
#28
Definitely not the same one as the Argos deal ;-)

Richer sounds have this TV for £679.95. If you have one near you, go to currys and they will price match and beat the price by 10%
#30
Richer Sounds are not on the list of retailers Currys price match, are they?

Does anyone know if they will match (deduct 10%) from Richer Sounds prices?
#33

from their promise they would not match.

Looked on some other forums and it appears some people have got Currys to p/match RS at the store managers discretion.

Got the 46" last August for £1200 from John Lewis , they also give you a 5 year guarantee , I got their C/C and you get interest free for 6 months and also £20 odd of vouchers . Brilliant telly .

There is one in stock at £683.16 if someone wants to snap it up...
