The free Samsung DVD-F1080 will upscale to 1080p, and also plays DivX....and all the reviews I've seem of it rate it very highly. Its generally for sale around the £60 mark.

also, in my opinion, its one of the best looking dvd players around....very sleek design!!!

-----------------------------

The dvd player sells for about £60, so that makes the tv with the 3yr warranty about £739 delivered!

---------------------------

Also...don't forget 4% Quidco...which is £31.96...potentially bringing the cost down to £767.04 or £707.04 for the tv

Now this is a better deal, because for around £30 more than Dixons, you get a horrid looking DVD player, AND a three year warranty.
Voted this one hot (because £30 for a three year warranty is a good deal, even if you were to throw away the DVD player).
Assuming the warranty is with a 3rd party insurance company, and not the retailer (in case they're not around in a couple of years).

OK, I don't get it.....Why so cold?
I know the other deal (posted a short while earlier) is a colder deal (because it's £60 more expensive), but why so cold on this one?

Warranty (after the initial 1yr manufacturers warranty) is with Domestic & General I believe...although maybe someone else can confirm

JL have just got this item back in stock but they have pushed the price up to £899 which includes the 5 year warranty. This looks a good deal to me unless I can persaude JL to sell it to be for the old price.

So I can't work out why this one is so much colder than the other (£60 more) deal.
It's a decent TV, OK the DVD player styling is a matter of taste (I happen to think it looks hideous), but £767 for a TV most places sell for £900+, AND a 3 year warranty, AND a DVD player is a good deal.
It's certainly worth paying the extra £30 for (over the Dixons price).

I agree completely this is a great deal especially now the John Lewis one is gone.
#7
Warranty is with Pinnacle who seem kosher, Crampton and Moore use Domgen. Both warranties feature call-out rather than return to base.
#8
Each to their own I guess...I give up on the numpties that cold vote without reason!

Managed to persaude JL to sell me the telly at the old price of £799 incuding a 5 year warranty.

Every LE40A656 deal that has been posted has been voted to negative figures. I think a lot of people are don't see, or want or aren't willing to pay for, the extra features this particular model offers over the 5-series equivalent. For most people, even the 4-series is enough.

Personally, I'll be getting this TV pretty soon

Maybe they're confusing the LE40A656A with the LE40A656C, which is a different model (although it looks the same), and costs a lot less.
Sometimes I don't think Samsung do themselves any favours, with their completely bewildering array (and seemingly random allocation) of model numbers.
It's often impossible to work out which is better, which is an older model, of even if there's any difference at all.
