The Samsung LE40b530 is a 40 LCD TV that offers unrivalled value for money.

Featuring full 1080p HD Ready technology, the LE40b530 is more than ready for the new generation of High Definition sources such as Blu-ray. The full 1920 x 1080 resolution lets you see more detail than ever before and creates a vivid sense of realism. Also standard is Samsung's Wide Colour Enhancer 2 engine. This unique Samsung system offers far more natural and convincing colours by strengthening the red, green and blues. A high contrast ratio also gives the LE40b530 excellent depth of image with subtle shading.

Although we'd always recommend a separate home cinema system, the Samsung's built-in SRS Tru-Surround HD system gives a useful boost to audio performance. With indirect firing technology the, hidden, speakers create a spacious sound that's complemented by the SRS Tru-Surround HD system.

Twin rear-mounted HDMI (and one side-mounted) sockets allow for the connection of 3 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box, HD camcorder and Blu-ray. In addition to this, the LE40b530 boasts SCART and component connections for your older sources. Furthermore, the PC input makes this attractive TV the perfect complement to your home computer - especially when used in conjunction with the Samsung's special Game Mode. Topping off the wide range of sockets are both analogue phono and digital optical sound outputs - ideal for connecting this Samsung 40 inch 1080p LCD TV to your hi-fi or home cinema for a useful upgrade in sound quality.

Completing this stunning 1080p Samsung is a stylish case finished in the same Crystal Rose high gloss look as their other, more expensive models. For added convenience the stand also swivels for the best viewing angle.

As 40 inch 1080p HD Ready LCD TVs go, the Samsung LE40b530 is now one of the best bargains of the lot. Be quick!

If not , then recommendations for a "usb ports or memory card" specced item would be appreciated

Hound John Lewis and they may price match plus 5 yr guarantee

If John Lewis wont price match..... a 5 year warranty in RS is only 10% of the price, its well worth paying only £40 extra for 5 years guarantee on this.

very true, last thing you want after a year is to be paying for a fix or a new tv.

& i was just about to say that currys also have the same tv, so as long as the RicherSounds store is close a currys (which usually is the case), you can get it for about £380, for anyone not interested in the extended gaurantee

Good Price. Wish I had a couple of hundred spare :P

Still waiting for them to get the 32" version back in stock! A 40" won't fit in the gap between my wardrobes :(

Same here lol. Want Samsung, best make out there for LCD in my eyes!
#18
For those thinking of price-match, be wary that RS must have it in stock.
Problem with matching @ John Lewis is they aren't open boxing day thus RS may and probably will be sold out.
#19
Wow! I would love to get this for my PC. I'm currently using a 1080p 24 Inch which i bought a year and half ago for about £350 so this seems like a really good price even if it has been so long.

Any 37" deals for full HD? 40" is too big for the space in the corner

Looks like a good price, though I should say that this set was this price before the sale:

very.co.uk has the model up (LE40B550) for £429 delivered with free del code & 20% off code.
The B550 can be changed using the service menu into the B650 for movie playback via USB so is a better deal IMO.
#23
does the mkv hack work on this model?

Indeed! 599 - 20% = £479.20 (unless they've just changed the price.. which is likley knowing littlewoods)

This and the similar numbered series (530/550/650) have got rave reviews in the likes of Trusted Reviews and for the money, are higher rated than the current crop of Sonys (cloudy backlight issues). Most of the reviews state the lack of 100hz isn't too much of an issue.
#28
Hope they're a better build now, just had to repair mine 30 months old and 4 power board capacitor's were blown.
Design fault and Samsung were not willing to do anything about it.

Can't stand this shop.

I have never know a shop where staff are so up there own *****. They are more interested in winning a war of words and trying to be clever than satisfying a customer.

Was buying a 37" last night, I found the manager to be completely unprofessional and arrogant when I asked if they could do a deal on the price if I took a bluray player.

Walked out, popped to Comet who took £20 off RS's prices.

Comet were actually the opposite, very professional, good knowledge of the product (which RS's schoolboy staff are lacking) and bending over backward to keep the customer happy.

37" screen and BR player bought and I will return in Jan to upgrade my 46" which they said they will do a deal on as well. :santa:

However... I can't deny this is a cracking price, I would just not get it from them. Ask Comet to price match.

H&R given for the deal, nice one (just not for the shop lol)

Hi Crazyhorse1,

I was sorry to read that you appear to have had poor service from one of our stores.

We do put a lot of hard work in giving all of our customers second to none customer service and it is therefore extremely disappointing to hear of any occasion where we have fallen short of our usual high standards.

Of course, I’d be most interested to hear which colleague you spoke with so that I may take this matter up with the individual concerned. So that I may do this, please would you contact me via private message to let me know which of our stores you visited? I can assure that I will deal with this as a matter of urgency to find out both what has gone wrong and to prevent any similar situation from occurring again in the future.

In response to rickj’s comments - as I’ve informed Rick before - all of our advertised deals are 100% genuine and certainly available unless clearly stated (e.g. last few to clear, etc).

Meanwhile, please accept my sincere apologies and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Many thanks,

John Clayton

The 550 yes. The 530 is not as good as you can not hack it to play movies via USB like you can the 550.
The 550 can basically be hacked to be the same as a 650 which is £100 more. The 530 can't be.

This is the 5 series which only has 50Hz, which is very poor.
I have a 60Hz sharp 46" lcd tv which is fine but if you put it into 50Hz mode it flickers, which can give you headaches if using it as a pc monitor or similar.
