This is an absolutely awesome TV - It has been at £599 from John Lewis for a few weeks however on Friday it dropped to £549. Although it went straight out of stock some stores still have ti available and John lewis informed me they are getting stock of it in this week!

You can buy it cheaper through amazon for £534.99 however you wont get the 5 year parts and labour warranty on it.

See here for the review of the TV it gets the best review of the lot at avforums "Excellent"..

I paid £450 for this TV at Richer Sounds just before christmas. Richer Sounds have since had it for £430 and then £399.
There was also a deal for this TV recently for £430 at John Lewis with a 5 year guarantee by price matching Currys.
Its a good TV but it aint worth this price.

Yes you're right. I thought it was the 530 but i see now its the 550.
Although the only difference is the surround and diffferent ports. The spec of 1080p 24p and 50hz is the same.
For this sort of money i would expect 100hz.

This is a good deal, this TV is highly rated and comes out way above the 100Hz tv's when you take into consideration price.

You have bascilly entered into a different realm of thought that is not relevant to this deal and also mislead all people reviewing this deal.

I think (if you do your reasearch) this is a great deal and this TV is also considered to be one of the best in its bracket.

Again backup your argument on this before you start spouting! I have done hours and hours of research on this TV and for this price you wont get anything decent that is 100Hz that stands against this spec.

The picture quality is exactly the same as the 40 " 530, and the 530 was selling for far less than this £549 price.
If it was a good deal then you would be getting hot votes.... which you are not.

Voting this hot as with the 5 yr warranty makes it a good deal especially when compared to Dixons, etc. But the LG42PG6000 is a stonker of a TV for a bargain £420. Not 1080p but it blows a lot of the Samsung LCDs out the water. But i haven't seen this one so i can't compare and I agree the reviews are good.

I think its hard to compare a HD ready and a full 1080p . There is a definite difference nowdays.

OP, you cheeky sod, I was going to post this. :p

P.s for everyone information, I rang up John Lewis, they will be getting this tv back on the 9th febuary.

True - the LG42PG6000 would win, and even better you could pick up a Panny Plasma for this sort of money.

Er...quite easy to compare. The LG Plasma gives much sharper and more colourful SD & HD pictures than a lot of the LCD 1080p TVs. There is too much hype given to 1080p. It isn't the only factor when choosing a TV.

Biker jeff-it got 21 cold votes after u said it was cheaper on here before - which u were wrong about duh, since then it's started going up.

This is a damned good deal, only a fool can't see that.

This isn't a LCD va plasma debate. This is an LCD tv that's a good price, qualty tv, the best warranty on the Market

i purchased the B530 for £429 and reading other reviews i think one of the main differences with the b550 is you can get the usb port to play files such as MKVs which is extremely useful.. i have thought about it and weighed up the options n decided to stick with the b530 as the picture quality is still good and not really worth paying the extra just for usb playback...

OP, dont get me wrong, not knocking this deal at all..For those wanting playback using the USB (after changing the software on the tv) then this tv will be ideal!
