Was in Glasgow earlier today and saw the 46 inch tv at first for £799, but when I came home, i found that the 46 inch was going to be far too big.

Had a look about for a smaller size of the same model and found this beauty. Saw that it was posted on here a few weeks ago and got some heat at £615 from Amazon. This is £15 cheaper and a 5year warranty!!

BARGAIN!

The platinum black Samsung LE40B550A5 LCD HD Ready Television has 1080p Full HD, technology so cutting edge that youll have a fantastic picture, even in dark scenes. Four High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connections make your TV a multimedia centrepiece. Connect HD digital devices like disc players, game consoles, and satellite dish boxes into the 3 rear connections and use the side-mounted input for cameras, camcorders and laptops.

Wide Colour Enhancer 2 ensures a multitude of brilliant colours, 1080 24p Real Movie technology guaranteeing that when connected to a compatible Blu-ray player you see the film just as the director intended.

The Samsung LE40B550A5 also features a viewing angle of 178° which allows you to enjoy your entertainment, whatever angle youre watching from. SRS TruSurround HD produces a surround sound effect.

I quote my son's saying when I had my Freesat installed, 'Mum, your TV, a pathetic JVC, runs on 50Hz and Freesat does not look well with such a slow machine!'

This machine runs on 50Hz and the latest model on 400Hz. Specs count!:w00t::oops:

Really??? Freesat HD channels look fine on my cheapo Hyundai A321 32" LCD and that's only 720p I should imagine this would look excellent

God knows. I have the 32 inch L436 model Samsung and it looks really good for me the now. I dont have Sky HD yet or Freesat, but popcorn hour shows me good video as does my ps3 and blu-rays.

Freesat HD dont even have a full HD transmission yet so it dont matter whether its 100hz or not! Also most people find 100hz abit too quick and tend to leave it on 50hz.

Also, this is a LCD TV which means they only really hit 100hz with the exception of Sony going to 200hz!

If you want faster get a plasma!

Quote your son...."google" from me lol :D

Your son just assumes the latest is the greatest but he's just quoting something out of an Argos catalogue! :w00t:

When you say "100hz a b it too quick" is that the effect where you see some tv shows sped up. Like there is a small burst of video?

Pretty sure it's back up in price at Costco, that offer was in the passport style booklet that was due to end weeks ago now

This is a great tv. It can actually play pretty much all types of video via the USB. (including MKV).
You have to enter the service menu.
For more info read here
It is a great tv and I would reccomend it!

I bought this TV two weeks ago, from JohnLewis, for £650, and I thought I was getting a good deal. It's a great TV, I recommend it. £600 with a 5 year warranty is a great price.

I got one of these, good set but not impressed with panning scenes.... seems jerky to me..

Op... was the 46" version also in John Lewis? £799 is very good for that too :)

 I ordered one of these a couple of days ago so looking forward to it arriving this week.

I've been specifically looking for a nice 50hz set as my eyes just can't cope with 100hz (looks as if everything is moving on fast forward to me) and the 5 year warranty was important factor in my choice.

We got this model at Christmas from Currys for £600 with a free stand, no warranty though. Good Tv, would reccommend.

Yes thats exactly it mate! but you do have the option to switch it off/set it back to 50hz so its not a problem either way unless you payed more for something you dont need ofcourse :p

I ordered this yesterday. Coming next Tuesday afternoon! Cant wait. Moving into a new flat end of this month and will be getting Sky HD to go with it!

Before i ordered i popped into Comet to see what the build etc was like, and it was superb. The picture on Blu Ray was stunning.

Good find, I had been looking at this TV for a while and finally ordered (coming on Monday).

Does anyone have a link to the best settings for it?
#26
nice buy! But how much is the contrast on the tv?JL website only says 'High contrast'

the tv programme will always be the same time whether its a 50hz or 100hz tv.

all 100hz does is refreshes the screen faster (because the screen isnt on for every single milisecond the tv is on)

this means if your watching sports, lets say tennis for example, the ball wont look blured when moving fast.......because the screen will refresh faster and catch more frames, making the image smoother.

if you watch sports a lot then its better to get 100hz
