1080p Full HD

Discover the Full HD difference. 1080p Full HD refers to images that are displayed at 1920 x 1080 resolution. With 1.5 times the scanning lines of conventional HD TV, Full HD offers more pixels, more details and superior picture clarity.

Samsung Crystal TV
Eco-aware Crystal TV. Because the Samsung Crystal TV's flawless finish is created by dual injection technology, no spray paint is used - eliminating the emission of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). Efficient power consumption means that energy is saved. Plus, with free take-back and 90% recyclability, you can be sure that even at the end of its life, your Samsung Crystal TV is as eco-safe as the day it was made.

Wide Colour Enhancer
Complete colour coverage. By lengthening luminance level and expanding the range of colour expression, our upgraded Wide Colour Enhancer technology completely covers the RGB spectrum, saturating images with intense, vivid colours closer to those perfected by nature.

USB / USB 2.0
USB 2.0 uses a simple USB interface to let you play music and view pictures right on your TV screen. It supports high speeds of up to 480 Mbps. It also supports FAT 16 / 32 files, the file type found on most USB drives, flash devices and SD cards.

4 HDMI
Connect your digital world. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) inputs transmit pure, uncompressed streams of digital data at the highest resolution. With 4 HDMI inputs (3 rear, 1 side), your TV is equipped with everything it needs to become your personal multimedia hub, allowing you to quickly connect external devices to the TV for an unrivalled audio visual experience.

Manufacturer's Description

Samsung’s BD-P1600 offers full HD 1080p playback of Blu-ray discs, and crisp up conversion of standard DVDs through the HDMI 1.3 connection. For a true, Hollywood-quality experience, the player can internally decode the latest high-resolution digital multi channel audio soundtracks, including Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby TrueHD™. The BD-P1600 can wirelessly connect to the latest BD Live features when the Samsung 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi dongle (optional accessory) is connected to one of the players’ two USB 2.0 ports allowing access to the latest BD Live™ and Bonus View Blu-ray features out of the box, leaving the 2nd USB 2.0 port free for memory expansion duties when needed. Samsung’s newest Blu-ray players improve traditional disc loading time to begin fast playback, and can eject a disc in a single second. What about the Samsung B530 (40 inch) from Argos for around 480ish? Add a bluray player on top and i thnk it will be slightly better than this deal?

This one is the B550 so newer model I think

B550 and B530 are pretty similar and from the same range.

B550 has more inputs and can play mp3s and jpgs via USB and I think the contrast is slightly higher.
Apart from that, and the cosmetics, they are the same TV

I have the TV and it's a corker.

It does seem like a cracking deal!
Im kind of hesitant to get a TV at the moment, i keep almost taking hte plunge then backing off.

How much difference does 100hz make over 50 hz.
I always daudle to make sure the deal is top notch but im always end up waiting for technology overloaded with features ill never use.
#12
This is a good deal but if you can afford it it's worth paying the (quite considerable) difference and getting a series 6 LED, or even better the 7 or 8.

As I say, different league of TV though so this isn't bad at all.

I have this TV and recommend it. I think for the price that you pay, you get one hell of a TV.

btw, i have series 6 and i think it might be better to invest slightly more at this stage and get a 100 Hz as it looks like the 50 Hz will soon be older technology and yes it does make a difference when watching sports or playing games. Oh and yes, the blacks are blacker which to me makes a big difference as i watch alot of movies and gives you that cinema like feeling

Spot on capricornianz. The deeper blacks and whites are what give you the superior pictures, especially during Blu-Ray films. 100Hz appears to be about right, I've heard 200Hz can be hard to follow for some people.

5 Series Ball of Sh*te compared to the Series 6 far superior LCD, can be bought for £600, well worth the extra - check price runner for: LE40B650:santa:

It's worth noting that it's not guaranteed to work on all B550's as Samsung have wised up and disabled it on the later shipments of this TV.

I tried to get the same price as initially promoted but it just doesn't add up. It comes out at £653.97!:x
