Just make sure you have a warrenty. I purchased a B530 September 2009. It lasted 28 days and the panel died totally. Comet replaced the TV with a new one which then had a main board fail 3 days before the years warranty expired.

LOL Axemanbob, you actually counted

They still making these? we bought ours in the sale (end of) last year, thought they were discountinued! Ours is fine (touch wood), at the price its a good deal.

LOL Yeah unlucky ! Nice TV though. Great picture. As for Sale of Goods..... Their was some doubt as to the TV still been in Warrenty. According to the Comet Engineer who came out to look at the set ( he was a top bloke and pulled strings in my favour ) he said Comet never back down. ie if it's over a year old and a fault develops they will see you in Court..... He said they just dont give a #hit about the Sale of Goods Act.

Then I would see them in court, and be confident of a win :D

Yeah me too..... It's a PITA though..... One reason why in future I'll probably buy from a good local retailer instead of the big chains....

Severe lack of decent 'local' retailers around here. Not even any of those 'Euronics' stores (that I know of) :(

Worth noting you can play 1080P MKV files with DTS audio, with an NTFS formatted USB stick/HDD via the USB port.
Very useful ;) .

I have one of these - nice TV, good picture, and very good price. Be aware, however - I got mine a year and a half back (roughly), and the backlight died in mine - I'd bought it from Richer Sounds who had engineers onsite in 72 hours and fixed it on the spot, it's been great ever since. Credit to Richer Sounds on that one, it was a very simple warranty process

Is yours definitely the "c530" and not the "b530" model, not 100% sure, but thought the "C" line up was launched in 2010.

SOGA states that appliances should last a reasonable time, i.e 6 years, 5 years in Scotland.
maybe not worth the trouble for a 9.99 kettle, but certainly for a T.V

The six years quoted, is the period in which the case may be brought to court, after the contract has been made. The reasonable time is not defined, though clearly the max will be 6 six years.
However the key date is 6 months after purchase. Before 6 months the retailer has to prove that the fault was not inherenent in the product when sold, after 6 months it's the buyers responsibility to prove that the fault was inherent, when the item was purchased.
For most consumers, proving design or manufactring faults will be very difficult.

guys what does it mean when it says DVB-c??????

I saw it in PC world the other day, picture was much better than many others, colours were astonishing. It's a 50Hz tv, I could see some fuzziness behind the fast moving objects. If I decide to buy one of these I would buy B530 from Richer sounds with 5 years warranty. B530 lacks USB but I have Xbox for them.

I bought one last year, very nice telly, hd channels looks great, no problems with it what so ever.
But I also got 5 years warranty on it just in case ;)

Yeah you're right, all of us that bought this model last year bought it as a "B", but still its very good telly for that money, and "C" should be even better.
