There are 3 types of panel. In the UK, Europe we only get the S-PVA or AUO Panel.
(The cheaper CMO lower quality ones don't reach here allegedly)

Both the S-PVA and AUO are good panels. AUO deeper blacks, but some models like 37 inch can "buzz" slightly. My one does, but I cant hear it more than 6 inches from the screen, and the AUO panel is lush. Some people prefer the S-PVA as it will probably seem "brighter". To be honest, most people won't tell the difference and they are both really good. This is for the C580, not sure if its the same on the C530 panel wise.

S ... serial numbers
Panel: S-PVA
Maker: Samsung

AA, AC, BA, GA... serial numbers
Panel: A-MVA
Maker: AUO (AA02-china and AA03 Slovakia)

and

CN BN... serial numbers=
Panel: P-MVA
Maker: CMO (CHI MEI)

So dependant on your luck / where you buy it - for effectively the same make and model bought by 2 different people - each person could get different items ? - outrageous !!

Grr samsung dont seem to do 42 inch panels any more... 40 inch is just a little to small in the rather elongated dining room we have. Does anyone know what the next step up from 40 inch is? Im guessing 46? Never seems to be any deals for 46inch TV's tho..

According to play its 600hz but not sure if thats right. Its actually a pretty good tv. Model is LE46B550
#32
Would have been a sale if it had Freeview HD. Boo!

Also, I have a Samsung 37 5 series and the panel failed after 5 month ownership. Have a Samsung AV receiver, the remote failed after 2 month ownership. Have a Samsung 23inch monitor, which works fine.

Most of my Samsung things are rather poorly made!
#33
Panel lottery so beware! Great TV though and playing media via usb is excellent, better than streaming via my 360.
#34
Voted cold as it's only 50Hz and can't be used for xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.

And yet people with Xbox 360's and PS3's use this tv no bother.

How have you got yours to play media through USB? I thought on this model the USB was only for firmware updates, if it can me upgraded to play USB its even better then I thought.

Richer Sounds say 'A total of three HDMI sockets allow for the connection of all the HD sources you could need, such as an HD-TV box, HD camcorder and Blu-ray. New to this year's 530 model is Connect Share Movie via USB' Their price, with 5 year guarantee is £417.94, so not the deal that this is.

If it helps anyone, Richer Sounds have this, and their spec is listed here:
