Wow, hottest deal yet on this set.
#2
Stuck between this and plasma. Any ideas?
#3
This seems better than a plasma at this screen size, and at price fotr a Samsung.
If you go any bigger then consider a plasma.

Only down side is no media 2.0, [email protected], no allshare.... Fine for mum and dad but no good the younger more techy types.... Lovefilm, DLNA etc are must have features in TV's for me....

Just an observation, I have NOT voted cold.... Mearely helping others make their decisions....

plasmas are better for sport and other any scenes with fast motion but the picture is not quite as vibrant, lcds look better if your sitting closer but these 50hz ones are not superb with motion .

oh well, never heard of it so no loss. id rather have a HTPC (revo with xbmc - you dont get more elegant than that) anyway than some built in tripe that probably cant handle 1080p (?)

50Hz is slow. Check your computer monitor LCD settings and see the Hz usually it's 60Hz.
DTV can go up to 500HZ

Unless you shell out for a top of the range 3D TV isn't that true of just about all TVs though.... besides, not everyone needs their TV to be full of the latest gadgets and a trendsetter.

If you are not going down the plasma route and aren't fussed about internet TV & Freeview HD (and this TV gets better reviews than the Sony TV that has those), then with a 5-year guarantee this looks a pretty good deal.
#21
Good deal with a 5 year warranty, I managed to get this TV from Amazon in the week for £357 and i'm really impressed by it.

LCD's look 'vibrant' due to high brightness and backlight but its not a natural look and can never match the natural look and true colour representation of a plasma. Plasma Blacks are also deeper and more natural than LCD's which have to use 'dynamic' (artificial) contrast to achieve darkness.

If you are doing a lot of gaming or PC work get an LCD otherwise Plasma every time.

Have to COMPLETELY disagree....

Ive gone through the years with media players, First Freecom, then TVIX (every model), then popcorn hour and a few other similar types, then acer revo into XMBC.

For up stairs I just used the Sony BDP=S370 blu-ray player which did the trick but was slow online and media player was basic but worked.....

BUT then I got a Samsung 7000C 50" 3D Plasma which has Media 2.0 and allshare etc and Oh my.... Amazing GUI with features to customise, built in PVR (have a 1TB samsung HD velcro's on the back of my TV), viewing media off my Q-Nap Nas which has Twonky media server is amazing, fast, perfect quality, great navigation all with a stunning GUI.... and the best bit is it's all one device with one remote.... PERFECTION

So now am on the lok out for a 40" samsung with all this to replace my Sony 403 32" LCD and Sony BDP-S370 blu-ray player upstairs.... Samsung is head and shoulders ahead of the competition in the additional media playback department....

Also if you've tried Lovefilm on the Sony TV or Blu-ray, well try it on the Samsung, it's a totally different service, viewing and finding new movies it's MUCH easier and faster, the search is MILES better, everything about it is better.....

Oh and it can handle 1080p media, MKV, H.264 you name it... it plays it... even digital 1080p 3D files....

The ONLY and I mean ONLY downside is no ISO support..... plays VOB though

I'm in two minds wether to get this or this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-42LD450-42-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/tech-data/B003H1048C/

I'd really like to connect a USB hard drive or stick or a mac to view stuff that's on it. Not a huge sports fan btw.

Can anyone help?

I have the LG and
1. It bigger
2. It cheaper

BUT the 5 year warranty would make me choose this

I bought a TV from M&S 2 weeks ago, another good deal on a Sony. Even though it said "2 weeks delivery time" on the webpage, the delivery centre rang me up the day after I ordered it to book a delivery day, the soonest available being the following day. Great service, they even install it for you when they deliver it.

warranty is not necessary anyway... my TV broke after 18mnths.... no warranty and I told the company I bought it from to repair it under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, Revised... they obviously had to as it was not fit for purpose. They have since repaired it again, totalling over £1000 of repairs! You DON'T NEED a waranty - the law is there to protect you anyway!

p.s don't by LG, unless you want it to break!

Peace of mind for me.
