Hot or not, this was £419 last night. I forgot to order it yesterday, luckily it's worked out nicely for me.

Great price - best so far at Amazon

Probably worth adding Amazon to the title of the deal

Here is an old thread I posted when I bought when it dipped below £400 2 months ago (before price went up) - may have some useful info for someone on functionality and difference with other models etc.

Excellent tv, got it myself last Friday, picture on the sky hd box is amazing, even better on the hd channels, xbox is great and 720p films/shows are amazing. Would deffo recommend. I paid £449 from John Lewis if it hadn't been for the 5 year warranty I would be kicking myself right now.

What are you smoking, when you play games on an LCD it always goes to 50mhz.

love it when people say things like this
these aren't those old crt tube tv from the 80s

everyone has NTSC blu rays and or dvds
everyone links their pc/laptop to tv

everything will play on them

when what hi-fi and co mumble on about things like 50hz they mean it won't play optimally

like the average person would notice if these tech people hadn't mentioned.
its just their way of justifying their £2000 tvs (im not saying they're no good its just very marginal differances which people compromise by bad placement/heavy lighting/distance ANYWAY

HOT TV!

Yeah, everytime I try and play Call of duty black ops on my 50hz television, I get the blue screen of death.

Why are most retailers reducing their prices so much on these suddenly?
#12
Great price. Still haven't decided whether 40" is big enough for me.

Could it be that they selling off the older models as most people are wanting Freeview HD capable sets now?

Great price, although Currys currently have a discount code 25POUND which brings their price of £379 down to £354 including delivery or reserve and collect from store

When I used a 50hz tv with xbox 360 games that say 60hz only on the box, some complain then go weird and black and white, others refuse to run and dump you back to the menu.

Hot, my 32" Samsung coming up on 5 years served me very well, my new 37" LED is goregous!

Can't go wrong with Samsung.

Does anybody know if there is an extended warranty on this, my parents are after a good cheap 40" LCD without the frills but want better than the normal 12 months warranty on it.

Ideally it would be a manufacturer 3 year warranty if Samsung do such a thing, I all know about the fit for use regulations but try explaining that of a pair of 68 year old technophobes, if it doesn't come on a bit of paper in the box they don't want to know.

this is really cold. I went to the currys in Cambridge retail park. It is only 379, you can get it in minutes, with in store service. and you get 10% extra. I paid 341.

Well, my rather antique rear projection TV is 50" so 40" might look rather small in comparison.

Regarding the "25pound" voucher code for Currys. You need to order for minimum £399 for that to work, so buy a eg. a game or Blu ray and the code will work.

I bought this TV two weeks ago at £400. Its great and it can do 60hz.

Yeah according to their website:
In the unlikely event that you find a cheaper price, for the same product and offer we'll not only match the price but also beat it by 10% of the difference. Our price promise even applies up to 7 days after purchase

Single unit purchases only. The competitor must be a retail store within 30 miles and have stock ready for delivery.

So, I can't see how Amazon fits that description?

I was planning to buy it for 379. sb came to me and told me for this offer. It is for free, everybody gets it.
#31
forget to say, homebase you can get 20% off on top all the offer. Every shop can discuss price with them nowadays as long as you spend some, like 200 above.

Sorry, I don't quite understand this.
Are you saying Currys will match Amazon's price despite Amazon not having a retail store near by?
#33
There is nothing to do with the price match. It is 379 in Currys, and you can get 10% off from the sales man. (it seems to be everythings off 10%, just like I mentioned homebase 20% off everything after discount. )

It doesn't take this discount code - I ordered anyway thinking I could arrange this instore. Wrong. They wouldn't deal - even if I bought two of them. Boo Currys - off to Amazon now. Better deal.
#38
Hi - apparently 25POUNDS is only for purchases of over £399 (one of the comparisson sites had it incorrectly posted). Apparently either SAVE5 or 15POUNDS will work for orders over £299 and give either 5% or £15 discount - plus go through Quidco and get another 2.5% cashback.

I'm no expert, but I was under the impression 50Hz on an LCD would be pretty bad...
