Looks like a good deal, now do I take a chance on the guarantee or pay £499 from John Lewis with a 5 year guarantee........decisions..... decisions..

Its also got DLNA... HOT imo

Anyone know if JL price match Amazon ?

Depends on your preference... Worth paying the extra £100 pounds for warranty? John Lewis only price match with the five year warranty so I think this is the best deal going.

The Sony has Internet TV over the Samsung but a mid-price Blu-ray will cover this. I think thats the main feature difference but as for performance I am choosing the Samsung on its gaming capabilities.

Please refrain from posting about technology next time, as you obviously have no clue. This isn't ram we're talking about here.

JL will only pricematch RS price like for like ie with 5 yr warranty so RS price will be £472 with 5 yr warranty, so £27 saving, tbh not worth the hasle really. If not bothered with the 5 yr warranty, better deal from Bestbuy with 20% Quidco offer (limited period). £421 less 20% Quidco makes it £350!( 20% less the price excluding VAT)
#15
which would be better for a gaming tv? this or LG 42LD450

LE40B551A (LE40B550) and its crappy for gaming, makes your eyes strain from the motion

Well it only takes an email to say where you found it cheaper, then they give you a code and you phone them with it, and its done, rather do that than not save £27 + try and find a richer sounds that actually has it in stock, whilst john lewis has it in stock and its free delivery aswell

This is a great TV! Nice picture, looks fantastic, supports USB, and you can also stream stuff from a PC to it using the 'Samsung PC Share Manager' software and a wireless router. I use it mostly for gaming and it's brilliant. Don't forget to calibrate it with the hdtvtest settings when you get it ;)

There's a nice long owners thread on avforums which is worth a read:

#21
Buy it from BestBuy with Quidco/Topcashback at 15%.
#22
I bought the 530 from Dixons a week ago. Gutted. Was waiting on and on for the 580 to come around the £400 mark but needed a tv desperately so got the 530 instead. :(

Best buy are out of stock.

Do remember that Quidco 20% is calculated net of VAT NOT on the retail price! So take off the vat and less 20% to get your cashback amount.

I bought this yesterday from Best Buy vis Top Cash Back and mine tracked at £86.93, making it £335.05. Everyone raves about the TV so hopefully I got a bargain!!

Buy it! I bought this from Amazon last year at £404, no regrets at all, highly recommended.
#31
Too Good a Tele....won't regret if you buy...brilliant picture quality
Very good price on Amazon......If you can afford go for JL with 5 year guarantee....peace of mind and protection of investment for 5 years.
Just my 2 cents

Amazon currently have them available for £358 (open box resealed). I've cancelled my BestBuy order and ordered this from Amazon for £358 - I'm just not convinced that BestBuy will be paying out on the 20% cashback.

I've got this, paid 399 from Tesco in Oct. Great telly.
#34
Im playing black ops on this TV as we speak. Its unbelieveable. Forget 100hz, most people turn it off, especially when gaming as it increases input lag.
#35
£399 is a great price so heat for this deal. I need a 5 yr warranty for this TV since it will need to last me upto 4 yrs LOL! Where can I get JL to price match at this price or anything upto £450??

JL will price match RS price £472.94 as it includes 5 year warranty. In my opinion it's worth paying that extra and not worry about any breakdowns for next 5 years.
#37
Yes,I got mine from RS for £420 + 10% for the warranty.

Agreed, 100Hz is an effect that ruins most media. I went for this TV after pitching it side-by-side against the Sonys with 100Hz. This Samsnung has less input lag and a great picture.

Also, brilliantly, it has separate HDMI audio input and a proper headphone jack and optical audio out, so you're covered for options!
#39
amazing TV. I got one last time it was 399 from amazon. Like everyone else says 100hz is completely overrated. Go into currys and have a look at the TV's that have it on. It doesn't look natural!
#40
been this price at sainsburys for weeks, and 408 at comet. curry's price matched to 404. anyway, it's a good tv - bought one for our meeting room.
