As above the cheapest this best value for money tv has been IMHO (C580's).Hope it helps some. I know the new model is out soon but it seems to have very few feature wise at least over the c580 and will be around £100 more for a little while to come.

Hope it helps some the 37" is also at £399.99 for those wanting that.

Got one of these the other day for £320 ex-display but it looks like its just come out the box.

I have a very old TV aerial but it still managed to pick up all the digital channels and even the HD ones ! Watched Eastenders HD and i was well impressed !!

Happy that it worked out for you,i had a bad experience with a 37"c5100 from a amazon warehouse deal.It was returned,i have learned not to bother with ex-displays or returned tv's due to the fact it was returned for a reason. If you can't notice anything then Great but someone most likely did. I tried it as it was a saving of £150 at the time (£364) This was a month and a bit ago and the tv is now £460.

To the point, i believe that lcd's in the same price range as leds are better and that this tv beats all other options in a similar price range ! I also don't like LED they have worse problems on top of possible ones with lcd.

I returned this tv due to something not suiting my needs and holding off the 37" lcds due to buzzing problems for the last 6 weeks i've had no tv and think it may be time to suck up and deal with the problem simply because i see very little else out there :(

They will come and pick the faulty tv at no charge at a time convenient to you.

It's £380 at amazon now so would prefer from there. I bought it when it was at £399 but am very happy with it.

I love these TVs. I currently don't have a TV at all, but have a 26" Samsung PC monitor which I'm using as a TV until I can afford a new one. I've been looking at the C580s in particular and was aiming for a 46" one, but at this price the 40" is a much better deal and something I can afford already! So it's either this or save up a bit more for a 46" C580 or possibly something with 100hz and 24p.

I agree Amazon has a good returns policy, but I have to say I've had absolutely no problem with Dixons either.

Also, Amazon are often let down by their choice of couriers (CityLink and DHL) - it's all very well being able to choose a convenient time for collection, but not much use if the courier seems incapable of turning up on the day they say they will (take a bow DHL in particular). Dixons use their own in-house delivery/collection service which is a darn sight more reliable, in my experience at least.

If you asked to return it under the distance selling regs, Dixons had no right to refuse, regardless of whether or not it had been switched on. To be fair, these things are often down to simple ignorance on the part of the company representative, rather than a deliberate corporate policy to screw you over.

As for what you can do now, it really depends on how long you've owned it...

I knew nothing and when they said no i just said ok thanks anyway bye and put the phone down. If it was now it would be different. I am still convinced a wonky/ dodgy stand isn't acceptable ..... I don't know if its worth a phone call. Unless there is a law or something that makes my request reasonable ...

Well, obviously you're past the DSR return period, but you're (just) within the 6-month period after purchase in which faults are deemed under the Sale of Goods Act to have been present at the time of purchase.

It's a pity you've left it so long, but I think the way I'd play it is to tell Dixons in writing (important) that the TV has "developed" unacceptable backlight bleed, and you'd like a replacement or repair under the terms of the SoGA - if you tell them the faults have been present all along, they might justifiably ask why you didn't reject the goods (again, within the meaning of the SoGA) as soon as you noticed them.

I doubt if a repair would be economical or convenient, so they'd probably offer you a replacement - they might refer you directly to Samsung under the terms of the 12-month guarantee, but for now the important thing is that you get your letter off to Dixons (send it by recorded delivery) before 30th April... things may get more complicated after that, as it will be up to *you* to prove the goods were inherently faulty at the time of purchase (although this wouldn't affect any additional entitlement you may have under the terms of the warranty/guarantee).

We're going OT here, but hope this helps a bit anyway.

Thanks for the help, it seems a bit to much hassel. Thanks for the time and i will consider what you have said.I don't watch the tv myself so it isn't a biggy for me but its still wrong. I will see if there is another solution to the stand before i consider writing to them.

It is as long as your not using it as a monitor, thats the only reason i returned it back in feb
