Unfortunately the gaming lag is a blow.

Nice price, heat added! :)

Can this website be trusted, never heard of them before.

Can't be risking £670 on them, any reviews?

Seems the four bd pack of Shrek 3D is going on the auction site for a cool ton! the three bd and voucher one goes for £50 too so if you dont like Shrek you could knock at least £50 off!

Hot! It looks like all these 3D TVs are going to be coming down in price with the glasses free 3D TVs that are coming out later this year
#13
Not voting this time. Not a great deal imo. Considering you'll need at least 2 pairs of glasses (at about 70 each) and a 3d bluray player (150 +), It doesn't seem like such a good deal. If you want it for just sky 3d or standard none 3d tv it might be worth it though, but having to buy the glasses will still put me off.

I won't buy a 3D TV until they work out how to do away with the glasses, personally I find them uncomfortable and a massive eye strain. Ok price I guess.

That is not true. If you go to Japan then you can get a 12" or 20" one now but Sony's prototype is only 24". The television companies haven't even decided on what technology they will use yet so I doubt there will be proper sized ones until at least 2012! By that point you should be able to buy Avatar 3D blu-ray in the shops, though.

I've seen a coupe of glasses free 3d tvs at work, and while they are good, I don't think you get the depth that you currently get with passive/active 3d tvs that require glasses. IMO, it will take another 3 years before we see good quality autostereoscopic 3d tvs.

I'm more interested in decent a decent size OLED tv at the moment....now that will be something worth waiting for.

I'm quite lucky I managed to get this TV from Simply Electrical for £816 inc del with £18 cash back from quidco, this included 2 x 3d glasses, the Shrek collection and also the Blue ray player.
#19
anyone know if the blue ray player package is still available anywhere?

Reviews are all well and good, its when you live with it that counts. Just go on AV forums, its riddled with problems like all makes and models of 3D tellys are at the moment.

Might not be that far away as LG are releasing a 31" OLED TV this year and they hint that bigger screens will be coming in the not too distant future.

Of course they will be able to charge obscene prices for this tech in the first couple of years so I would still guess that the masses won't see it for a while yet.

Once this comes to the mass-market I would imagine that LCD & Plasma can pretty much shut up shop ... unless of course some serious flaws come to light.

More info here:

The annoying thing is that 3d development (and to a lesser extent web content and media streaming) seems to have stopped any major leap forwards in terms of picture quality in the upcoming models.

Exactly....a couple of years ago, some blokes from work brought back from the CES a couple of OLED screens (can't remember if they were 8" or 11") used for photos. The pictures were stunning....as were the prices!

They also brought back an OLED keyboard...and that was pretty cool (and expensive). You could change the icons on each key pretty much to whatever you wanted.

Apparently the technology is 10 years away for TVs to be available at a reasonable price without the need for glasses

IMHO 3D TV is a waste of time; spend your money on a quality SD/HD TV

Damn it! Was just about to buy this and thought I'd read the hdtvtest review and been put off it by the high level of input lag :( I do like to play FPS online so this tv is a no no :(

HI GUYS JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, SAMSUNG DO PROVIDE ONE PAIR OF ACTIVE 3D SHUTTER GLASSES INSIDE THE BOX, THAT'S HOW IT'S PACKAGED AT THE FACTORY.
I KNOW BECAUSE MY MATE BOUGHT THE SAME MODEL A FEW MONTH'S AGO FOR £899.
