How does this compare to the previous LE40C580?
#2
I think they got the rrp wrong.

Looks like a good deal.

At a rrp of £800 plus I would have expected this to be an LED set, not a fairly mainstream LCD.
£399 is an average price these days for a 40/42 inch full HD LCD.

why is this advertised as an amazon deal - when something goes wrong amazon won't help you.

It's a year younger ! ! ! , The 'D' is a date letter, my LE46A786 is 2008

This is not very helpful. Most people realise that D comes after C and so is likely to be a newer model.

Question is, even though it's newer, is it better? It costs £20 more than the recent expired LE40C580 but what do you get for this extra £20? Is it worth it?

Anyone got any experience of Southern Electric, the seller for this through Amazon?

Does this come with wall mount?

Apparently it comes with a lower quality processor built inside it but supports 24p judder free.... A few of the guys on avforums suggest that the C is better for that fact but this is still a good price for a 2011 model.....

The LE40C580 has a Valencia processor. The LE40D580 has an MStar processor.

Samsung processors, in ascending order of performance, are MStar then Trident then Valencia.

The D580, therefore, appears to offer inferior overall performance to it's predecessor, the C580.

Technically, the D580 appears to be a C530 plus HD Freeview, a few other bells & whistles, a more upmarket case & an inflated pricetag.

This is very helpful. Cheers.

Shame it looks worse as you would normally expect newer models to be improved.

Yep i found it out when i got a 37"d580 returned due to it being faulty and turning itself off. Was happy though. Have a lg ld490 which i prefer for the money to the d580.

Compared to the LE40C580, there's not TOO much difference with the LE40D580.I would say if you have the c580, then there would be little point in upgrading to the d580, but if you are looking for a new LCD TV then I would recommend buying the Samsung LE40D580. With the added bonus of HD freeview, and a few other things, the slight increase in price is justified.

They both have Freeview HD
