Good find.

I bought this exact model for £890 from dixons 2 weeks ago and it is BY FAR the best tv i have ever seen in this range.

BUY IT!!

this is a great tv... but i took mine back a couple of weeks ago due to known faults..... So as long as you guys know about it and happy with it then its ok..... Checkout the avforums.com for more info on it......

movieplus switches itself on everytime u change source - fixed in newer firmware

Freeview judder - I never had this though, apparently some newer sets have it

Newer EDID software on the HDMI - Depending on when set was manufactured

Both or at least 1 scart has horizontal lines running down it constantly - no fixed - this is the reason i took it back... Very noticeable to me when slow moving pictures watching from sofa.....
Some people claiming not to have this... But seen 3 sets and they all had it....

Is this the same model as the LE40M87BDX found HERE, but the Currys exclusive? Or is it an older model?
#5
yes the m86 and m87 are the same...
#6
i also had the judder problem so changed to panasonic plasma which is far better than this one, and 1080p although not true native resolution looks better than 1080i so its capable of all hd resolutions at this size pan plasma is stunning and better than than the samsung lcd's (imho)

Nope this is for everyone.

Click on the link on the Egg website and they will take you to Dixons.
When you make your purchase, 5% will be credited back to your credit card straight away.

The M86 and M87 are the same - as the previous poster suggested - all except for the bar just underneath the LCD itself. The M86 has a black plastic strip with blue light, and the M87 has a a chrome strip.

Each to their own - both are specced exactly the same otherwise...I have the M87 through choice and it cost me £894 with £30 back from quidco via tribaluk.com.

Top choice...and for this price, voted hot...thanks...

The 5% off deal Batmans referring to works for Dixons only.

They have the TV on for £906 and as Mikey pointed out you could get it for £828 using codes and cashback

disc01 code (save 2.5%) = £886.27
bttotal20 code (save £20) =£866.27
Egg cashback (save 5%) =£822.95 + £4.95 Del
Total £827.90

Not a bad price imo

This is the review that made me buy it:

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Samsung-LE40M86BD/

Sure it has a few faults, but nothing serious and seems to out perform most others in its range.

I have had mine a couple of weeks and i am yet to spot any issues at all.

I am using both scart sockets, 2 HDMI connections and the coax aerial and all are perfect.

Beats my old Hitachi 42" plasma into a cocked hat!

It has three not two HDMI connections - two on the back and one on the side - ideal for things you want to plug in on a temporary basis.

I'd say there's only TWO things that bother me about it - straight out of the box:

1) The sound isnt good - but then most TVs have this issue, hence the reason I bought a separate set of speakers and amp - see other extensive forum thread about these :)
2) No automatic source switching. My old TV did it - this doesnt appear to. When you start up your DVD player you need to cycle through the SOURCES (I think there are eight) until you get there...likewise when you turn your DVD off and want to get back to Sky..you have to cycle. Minorly annoying.

Well will be looking at getting this tv! The tv or holiday! Tough choice!
Could just buy the tv and then watch discovery travel lol

I've had my current Sony 32" Widescreen CRT for 7 years now and have never used the TV's speakers. I have a brilliant Yamaha DSP AV Amp which I have my PC, Xbox, PS3 & Panasonic HDD/DVD connected via optical cables for 5.1 DTS.

Oh dear, is hotukdeals covered for the breakup of a relationship? Joke :)

I'd go for the holiday personally..the tv will always be there...and will probably be coming down in price anyway :)

Keep on trucking!!

Very nice choice sire/madam. I need to get a second/third set of opticals for my other stuff too, thanks for reminding me.

My speakers are discussed here:

for anyone form Mars (seemingly!) who hasnt seen this thread :) They're great - and a great price. And my old VSX709 amp from Pioneer is still the best sounding of anything else IMHO :)

Keep on truckin!

I have this TV, came with latest firmware and no problems at all (touch wood).

I did watch the England Germany game and saw no judder at all.

The TV comes with awefull settings, I would suggest going on the Audio/Video forums and get the proper settings to get best picture quality, it really does make a big difference.
