Looks like a cracking Tv at a cracking price....shame it's not 1920:1080 resolution or i would def snap one up.

I have been holding off buying a 42" LCD until i get one that displays 1080i or 1080p at the right price with the right connections....harder than it seems but getting closer day by day

I cannot get the scart lead off and the £75.00 voucher is not working either.

I've been looking at this deal for a while. my only concern is buying online without actually seeing the TV and picture??

To remove the scart lead scroll to the bottom of the info page an uncheck the box. The discount code is still working just make sure you type the code in. It will not let you copy and paste it.

Hope that helps...

Bought this telly a while back for the then bargain price of £850, the picture on standard definition as with any HD tv is not the best but the HD picture really is very good so if like me you've got (or will be getting Sky HD) it's easily worth the price, it's a great telly and probably the best looking one I've seen for a while too. Be wary though the PIP claim is only via different sources, it doesn't have a dual tv tuner so you can't watch two tv programs at the same time. I'm considering buying it again for another room in the house.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention it gets dusty like you won't believe, you can dust it turn round and there will be an inch of dust on it again, it's a minor gripe though. My advice is get one.

Thanks yas  Good deal!

Thats a good price

You beat me to it!!

I was also looking at this deal after noticing this yesterday, but cant justify buying this.

Worth noting that you can get the 32 inch version of this for approximately £530 using the relevant vouchers and egg

I have pretty much the same model (sans freeview) and it is fantastic. Only one HDMI and one component input though if you have a few consoles to plug in, but you can get component switchers pretty cheap.

I have the R74 and friend has the R73 and dont notice much difference between them and the picture is quite stunning when you have a HD source going through them.

I just wish I had waited and got the 1080p Samsung TV :( 2xHDMI

R74 and r73 are the same unit (r74 dixons own model no. with blue flash at bottom).

As has been said the standard source (freeview etc) pic quality on this 40" isn't great (although on most channels it's very acceptable) but I wanted mine mainly for game console use (xbox 360 and wii) and in that respect the HD rocks. It's also pretty damn good on a dvd player with HD upscaling and HDMI. Overall I'm very happy indeed with it. The freeview is a little slow but nothing worth complaining about. i knew 1080i was it's max and all the 1080p tv's I'd seen were so much more expensive I ended up taking the plunge a few months back at the £890 price - happy I did cos it looks great on the wall :-D

How do you get the freeview going ?

I got the R74 but got no idea how to get the freeview up and running.
#12
Mine auto-tuned itself when it was installed - then I just press the TV/DTV button to switch between freeview and terrestrial analogue.

Looking at the dixons page I think the r73 might be their model no (aswell as curry's obviously) - either way they both have the digital tuners.

It comes up "No Service Found! Check The Aerial Connection"

Do I need a special arial or something ?

What would you suggest for an aerial ?
#14
You may not be in a Freeview area. There are plenty of internet sites where you can type in your postcode and check before investing in new aerials etc. The coverage is pretty poor actually, my son can't get it and he lives only a short distance from Carlisle.
#15
I cant get the price to 774, have tried using the codes and only get it to 824, help would be appreciated
#16
sorry typing error meant 784 lol
#17
LOL have you entered the 2nd code

SALE800.

PS also noticed dixons have incresed the Delivery charge by a fiver.

The Border region is getting the full Freeview treatment next year. So say bye bye to analogue TV next year.

yes, tried both ways round after removing the dreaded lead they add and still only getting to 820+

Lucky us, perhaps they will get around to giving us digital radio before the century is out. Only time we get new tech before the rest of the country is when they want guinea pigs. :x

Like it - just can't afford it

I've had the BDX version for almost a year now & dust really isn't that much of a problem. First time I dusted it I used a household duster & the following day I couldn't believe the amount of dust that had reappeared, then I used the cloth supplied with the TV (making it slightly damp) & now I only dust it once a fortnight.

Can anybody else get the both codes working?
#25
Any where else any cheaper?
