Can I connect this to my Samsung smart tv and record programmes on to it? The TV is a 2014 model (if it makes any difference)

Just guessing model number above for an example of capabilities so if yours is [UE46H7000ST] then YES you can but check samsung support site for your model number http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/

You might also need to get a Y cable for this, as I found that a single USB port wasn't enough to power a drive on my 2011 Samsung TV, it needed the power from two ports...

That could've all changed on more recent models though, so just a heads-up

Interesting. My LE40C580 from 2010 powers usb2/3 devices fine from a single cable. Even recognises it as a usb3 device :)

What's that got to do with anything, unless those 2/3 devices were "Samsung 2TB M3 Slimline"

Can the drive be removed from this and put into my PS4? Has anyone actually done it?
