Post this with some trepidation that it's a hot deal , went into Comet tonight and saw they had these on sale for £219.99 .
I know you can get it for £209 on Amazon with the cashback but with the Netbook from Comet they are giving away a free Huawei E1550 USB Modem with 3GB only thing is it's connected to 3. Can't see this on website so possibly only an instore promo
Maybe of interest to someone
Sorry forgot to say it comes with XP not Win 7

Call me a fool but I quite like that at the price :w00t:

'up to 3 months of mobile internet free with this Netbook. Your mobile dongle will be added to basket when you purchase your netbook'
#3
Looks like a good deal, anyone know what the differences between this and the NC10 are?

Just saw a £20 cashback offer as well but this ended on the 4th unless purchasing from ebuyer. Still tempted though......sell the dongle for £20, use 15% voucher and quidco and would end up only about £165.......but do I really need it?! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
#5
Need it? This is HUKD, since when did need come into it lol

This is true! Guess that 15% off voucher will expire in 10 days anyway....wouldn't want to waste it!

If buying online the only code that appears to work is COM3X, which knocks the price down to £212.43p excluding delivery.

I was talking about a code given out during a promo they did (you could get anything from 5-50% off!!) and this expires on the 24th. Wonder if both codes could be used together?! Here's hoping!

Sorry about that, I assumed you meant the 15% discount code listed at the top (which doesn't unfortunately work with computer products at Comet) - you could always try giving it a bash to see if it works; the public discount code and then apply the one you have but you might want to double-check that to play it safe with them.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Sadly it doesn't stack codes, seems it has to be one or the other. Still tempting though at just over £165, this is even though I can't think of a single use for it or a time when I'd need it but hey ho!

Looks like a good deal, anyone know what the differences between this and the NC10 are?

- No Bluetooth
- Lower res Webcam
- Mono audio
- Slighly lower capacity battery (4000mAh 6 Cell)

+ Wireless network is N capable

The N130 is pretty good but the NC10 can be had for just a little more at the mo.
I am using the nc10 now and its a brilliant little piece of kit.

Damn - Just bought a netbook as a gift last week - wish i'd ahve known about this!!!!
#14
Good price but I just bought an N140 for the battery life and HDD size. This is supposed to be a new model but the NC10 or N110 knocks it socks off.

(not to mention Windows 7 on the N140)

I got one of these 3 weeks ago. Great piece of kit. 7 Hour battery, very fast with start up.

Highly recommended. ( i paid £219 refurb from PC world, and you wouldnt know the diffference.)

A word of warning about those Comet codes that were emailed the other week.

It will let you use them to do a Click and Collect reservation and show the discount on your reservation confirmation, but when you get to the store they will not honour the price. I had a nightmare at the Derby store last week when I reserved an Ipod touch using my 15% code but the code hadn't come through on the reservation at their end.

They rang the regional office and were told NOT to accpet the code. I kicked up a fuss and even rang Comet direct but had no joy. They agreed that their internal systems were flawed but refused to do anything about it.

I was told you can only use those 'personal' codes for online orders. But of course my code couldn't be used again so I lost it - again, they acknowledged the problem but refused to do anything about it.

I am awaiting a response from Comet to my formal email of complaint.

NC10 has bluetooth, and a bigger battery (Equates to about an extra hour or so). N130 also has a cheaper feeling keyboard.
N130 looks better IMO.
I had to make the same decision a month ago, and went for the NC10, it was the same price (jumped on the dixons deal at £238 with TopCashBack and £20 Samsung cashback - which has yet to come through)
I'd go for the NC10 but be careful you get the 6-cell model (don't buy it from Argos or Comet as they pass off a 3-cell model as 6-cell)

I did the click an collect thing last week, worked perfectly fine with my 15% code. Got the netbook for £187 then got the £20 cash back. Its an awesome piece of kit, especially with the 3gb Dongle thing.
The woman at comet didnt argue and simply put through my request, perhaps you had a person who takes their jobs far too seriously :(.

i also bought a n130 for my daughters xmas pressie,a pink one of course 209 from amazon, great little netbook, very nice looking , ugrades to 2gb memory, matt finish so you dont get fingerprints which you do on the nc10, but beware the speaker is rubbish, but i have bought an add on usb speaker which is brilliant,no bluetooth, but connection to the net is easy and is pretty quick, webcam is great aswell, all in all im happy with n130 and im sure my daughter will be to

When I (helpfully) pointed out that it was clearly a problem with their system I was told "well it's your problem if we can't sell it to you". At that point I may have stormed out of the store :whistling:.

I followed it up with central Comet Customer Service and they towed the same line with me - very frustrating. They also said that they'd had a number of people with the same problem as aresult of those emailed codes so it's a little annoying to hear that others were OK.

Yeah I used a 20% code to buy this and had no problems at all! If I had then there would have been a major fuss! Lol. Its amazing the difference a few days can make as my deal got hardly any heat! Oh well I suppose this should be spammed but as its christmas...... :gift:

Anyone want a 5% or 10% code pm me! :santa:

Go for the NC10, still the best by some distance.

A design classic that I believe will start to appreciate in value once new ones become scarce.

Sometimes a manufacturer gets it too right first time and then struggles to better it with subsequent models, thats the Samsung NC10.

Avoid this laptop, it is very plasticy and cheap.
Returned mine as it had a screen error.
But would have returned it anyway cause of cheap feel.
I can see it breaking in a year.

My advice is to get a Dell Mini, they feel much stronger and look better, that or a Sony model
#33
Saw these in Comet last week, I think currys had a similar deal, I think it was £239 and £20 cheque back or something like that.

Think I'll go for the NC10 though reading peoples comments about this feeling plasticy.

If it's any help, the NC10 doesn't feel cheap at all to me

its the small screen that puts me off, and the price that makes me look twice...

i get £140 for a computer grant for uni <3 so i wanted a laptop. but a decent laptop or one i like is about £400 but i seen one of these for £200... and im finding it hard to choose...

Any suggestions?

Depends what you are going to use it for. Netbooks are for surfing/word processing. You won't be doing any serious gaming on one, or watching HD movies. They boot up fairly quickly and don't feel sluggish. For the money I think they are great, I wouldn't use a laptop enough to warrant buying one, so the netbook is a good compromise. The 10" screen models are fine for me, teh resolution isn't huge, but I don't have to squint. The Samsung keyboards are pretty good for typing, the toughpad leaves a little to be desired (very small) but a cheap bluetooth or wired mouse fixes that.
The size is great, just chuck it in my uni bag, unlike a laptop where I need a case, long battery life means I don't have to take the charger most days.

Just bear in mind netbooks do have their limitations.

Hi,
Bought one of these today, looks ok for my 11 yr old boy.

It did not come with with dongle, however I phone the help line asking which one did.

She was aware of the advert but did not know which laptop came with the dongle.

To cut a long story short, she phoned the local branch who confirmed that I should have got the dongle, so i'm off there tomorrow to pick one up as I arranged with them

:)

So, if you don't get the dongle, hang in there, make the call and all is well. I hate 3 and will lose it after the trial!!

Cheers peeps and happy xmas!

This was/is on the top of my list for a netbook that I need to order by tomorrow. I want it in white though. I've been to PCWorld/Dixons/Currys to look at this in the flesh, but not got to see one, only the NC10.
The plasticy feel comments are putting me off a bit though.

I just upgraded my n130 today wih 2GB of ram from the recent £17 deal on here. Just to give you an idea of how fast these things are the netbook at 1GB can just about run an avi movie without stuttering. It will stutter with iplayer though. With 2GB things are nicely fluid now and can run iplayer smoothly and open apps quicker etc. I have to put the netbook into fast mode (has normal & fast) to do these things though which must have a higher tax on the battery. I find the main advantage with netbooks is their portability, ideal for a student. I purchased a small mouse as whilst typing the touchpad gets in the way and you end up with the cursor typing somewhere different. Of course you can turn the touchpad on and off but repeatedly doing this is tiring. 7 hours? Probably not that much tbh especially if you are doing taxing things but if browsing and word processing then 4 to 5 hours probably.
#40
For those without special 10% or 15% codes, I'm not sure why this is being advertised at £219, when you can appear to use codes COM3X and then SNOW to arrive at a figure of £208.05.

The SNOW code runs out at midnight, so get in quick whilst watching MOTD....

I'm assuming that the deal with the 3 dongle will still be honoured.
