U R a star.

I really expected these to dive below £200 after christmas, but it never happened, Probably will in due course, but i want one now. Every other netbook i have looked at just doesn't come close, and i'm fed up of looking.

£209 after cashback and accepted paypal too.

p.s it tries adding a discount card to your basket, for a fee, and only offers £14.99 postage. Just remove the card when checking out, and postage will revert back to £6.20

I think Samsung will keep these just above £200 mark, they are a geat netbook i adhore mine never crashes, does everything you want and the battery is just simply amazin even when running multiple apps.

I have to disagree. I've had mine for 12 months now, the first time I really put it too use was on holiday in May, after a day or so light use the battery completely died & the netbook would not work without the charger plugged in. Samsung replaced the battery for free but I took it away for 12 days this Christmas & on the 2nd day the same thing happened again. Samsung are now sending me another replacement battery.

Maybe I just have a faulty netbook. I think it's a brilliant machine but I have no faith in the reliability for a portable machine anymore.

If this has happened to anyone else then let me know if you have a solution/know the cause.

I would suggest you have a 1 in a XXXXXX that has a problem, numerous friends also have the NC10 with no reported issues in anyway. The only maintenance I have had to complete (other than standard anti virus) is a battery re-set which re-sets the batter meter - which has been done once.

Least Samsung are sending the battery - by the looks of other posts Acer do not seem to offer such good service on warranty claims.

Yeah probably is just a faulty netbook but out of 12 months warranty now even though it's barely been used. The problem is I only find the battery is an issue when I'm using it away from home (just use a normal laptop at home), and it becomes a real pain.

I've used an Acer laptop for the last 3 years & although the battery has gradually diminished to last only an hour, I expect than because of the many hours spent using it.

What is the best option then between this and the Acer posted earlier

That link to the Acer indicates the 3 cell battery (3hours ish life), so on the basis of the battery alone Samsung (ok i am bias) but it does seem to be cheaper - albeit a few ££.

Just ordered! thank you.

ordered one form argos last night for £245 delivered, luck of the draw I suppose. I've seen a few compalints about pixmania but I have none.
#15
If you don't do cashback I have just seen this on the Nectar website for Pixmania

"Collect DOUBLE points until 14th January 2010* - that's 4 points per £1 spent!"

So that's approx 880 Nectar points for this...

For £4 more you could get a refurb with a 0.1in larger screen...

bought mine on Monday from PC world for £250 (had bought a HP netbook from costco but very unimpressed by the 6 cell battery arrangement - looks like a 3 cell battery with another 3 cells stuck on underneath :? so I took it back and bought the NC10 instead)

Very impressed so far with the NC10, battery life is great and 6 cell battery is intigrated well into the laptop (which HP and Toshiba have failed to manage)

Not sure about pixmania though, I have never used them but they do seem to get a lot of negative rep

Ditto.

After owning an Asus EeePC 701 and 900 in quick succession, I settled on the NC10 and it had been my best friend.
It goes away on holiday with me and I take it to work with me most days.

Prior to owning it, I went through several ultra-portables (great keyboard, expensive and lower battery life) and then the EeePC models (great size but poor battery and keyboard).

The NC10 is perfect for me and I love the sturdiness/compact/keyboard design and the great battery life which is brilliant when using out and about.

Good price - Voted HOT!

Hi All,

I orderd the dell mini 10v for 195 inc delivery for the red cover, bt, and win 7 but its a 3 cell. I have seen above that this is deemed to be a better deal so does anybody know if / how I can cancel my order from dell?

Thanks

Andy

Bought one for a similar price using the Samsung £20 casback from Currys and I must say that it is a great little machine.

Anybody successfully done it?
Was thinking of buying one to write iPhone apps

good netbook, but new range will be released within next couple of months so prices are due to drop again
(voted hot still though!)

This is a great deal for a top notch laptop, but I haven't voted hot because, from personal experience, I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy from Pixmania. They show items as being in stock even when they're not, and take payment for them. Took me 30 days to get my card recredited and I know there are plenty of other people this has happened to!

Also, being a French company pretending to trade from the UK (hence the .co.uk...), this can cause issues with refunds, and many items arrive with French instructions. Personally, wouldn't touch them again with a bargepole. Don't take my word for it, check out the following for independent reviews:

I don't thik it will run the CODMW2, though wouldn't you want that "experience" on full spec desk top PC

Surprised no one has mentioned the recently posted Compaq mini110 at CPW for £179 as another option. Great keyboard and non-reflective display. Yes, it's a 3 cell battery (claimed 3.5hrs) but 6 cell available for £50 (original) or £25 (compatible), or a second 3 cell original for £25.

If you really need a 6 cell that's fine but have you thought it through? Do you really want to use a 10" screen for hours on end? It also adds weight and bulk. I've decided to stick with the 3 cell for portability (that's why I bought a netbook!) or maybe add a second 3 cell to keep one charged as a standby.

Just a thought as everyone seems to rush for the 6 cell without considering the whole picture or how they will use it.

BTW, no doubt the Samsung is a good machine but I'm delighted with my bargain Compaq. Way better than the Acer it's replacing. It'll save dragging a laptop around Australia for a month just for email and web.

There are lots of posters on here who knock retailers without explanation, which is of little value. In my view this is an example of something which really does add value. Well done No8! I've seen lots of concerns about Pixmania but now I know why. With so many decent internet retailers around I'll certainly avoid Pixmania now.

Just read those reviews - wow! Order at your peril.

People keep saying this.
The N120/130/140 have been out a while and have not caused the nc10 to drop dramatically in price.
The new pine trails are coming out now without any major performance improvements (some battery life improvements only it seems) so again not really impacting the price much.

Buy now in my opinion or keep waiting forever for the next big thing.

Not a chance! Quake 3 runs well, as does Condition Zero, but that's after throwing in an extra GB of RAM.

I think that the netbooks people are referring to are the new range equipped with the ION processor. The Samsung N510 is one of the first, but retails around the £400 mark, so I think you're right when you say that this will have little effect on the likes of the NC10.
#37
Agree, this is a good deal and a very popular Netbook - why wait for Ion based Atom netbook (which is way overpriced) when you can just add HD Video acceleration with a BROADCOM BCM70012 - AVC/VC-1/MPEG PCI Express® HD Decoder Chipset for Netbooks/Nettops - see my post here on Sammy Netbook. It costs around £15-£20 on fleabay (from HK / China).
Only scarafice is losing the built in Wifi to put this in place, but I have a tiny USB Wifi dongle plugged in to replace that. :whistling:
