I'm not aware they sell a model with a lower capacity battery, so this *should* be the long lasting 'normal' one

Good price if this is the one that we know and love :)

That's what I thought but I noticed the other day that Argos are also selling the 3hr battery version (£279) as well as listing the other version (£299).

I'm afraid, a 3 cell version does exist (Vodaphone UK sell it) - see here:

http://eeepc.net/vodafone-uk-offers-the-samsung-nc10/

You can buy a replacement 9 cell battery for £70, but that brings us back to the original £300 price point
#7
still a hot deal but it looks like there doing the nc10 with a 4 cell battery instead of the usual 6.

Battery life: Up to 3 hours

This thread seems to explain it as a lesser model

Will Windows 8 run on this
#11
Yup, along with 9 & 10 :whistling:

Cheers to the OP, good price even though the battery-life is slightly reduced
#12
The model number from the Comet website isn't listed on the Samsung website either, NC10-KA02UK is but NC10-KA06UK isn't.

I think the 3 hour version is the model they were giving out with mobile phone contracts.
#13
Does anyone know of any other differences between the "NC10-KA02UK" and the "NC10-KA06UK" apart from the battery life issue?
[mod]#14
I had a search round and yes its pretty much sure that this is the 3 cell battery model, still a good deal if you dont mind only 3-4hrs of battery life.
You could of course buy a second 6 cell chinese made battery from fleabay for around £30 and that would give you a reserve 3hrs+ if you were out and about with both batteries.

Brilliant price!

i'm guessing with the new models coming out all these retailers will be ditching old stock

has anyone price matched with PC World?
#17
If this is the model that Vodafone were selling, will it contain a SIM card slot?

The vodaeeepc link mentioned states that "Vodafone will be installing VODAFONE SIM plus their mobile broadband software to those Samsung NC10 so you won’t need a USB modem to connect your Samsung NC10 to the web."

Not too sure but , as it seems, it doesn't have a 3G build-in modem (SIM slot). Well at least according to http://www.umpcportal.com/products/Samsung/NC10/NP-NC10 : " Wireless Interfaces: No Wireless WAN (e.g. 3G cellular)". They only give specs for NP-NC10 (no other identifiers) not specifically the KA06UK one.

Still a good price tho. I'm really torn between this one, the NC10 (6-cell) from PCWorld etc or the Advent 4213. Sigh!

Having the lesser battery seems ot defeat the purpose as it's probably what most or a lot of people buy this for.

The nc10 is nothing to write home about for the price tag and taking away the battery probably kills it even more, coupled with a rubbish trackpad.

I paid £240 for one but had I known about the trackpad I would have opted for an Asus perhaps, hopefully will get the quidco payout, making it a shade over £220 but that's more than enough for this machine, so personally I would not like to pay more than that, certainly not with a 3 cell battery

totally agree the trackpad is abysmal!

Best computer I have ever had, period. Don't even consider buying another brand or model. I take it everywhere I go and with Skype and the integrated microphone and camera I can keep in touch with family and friends around the world. It's also a brilliant work tool and use it for my main business. At this price it would be silly not to.
#25
Dammit, 3 cell battery is a deal breaker for me.

Heat added anyway, good for what it is.
#26
Off the top of my head the £200 (HP?) on eBuyer is better value for money. Similar spec, though the Samsungs are considered by many ot be the best netbooks.

It Has No Cd Rom >>>>> It Also Doesn't Mention An Operating System...............!
So You Can't Install An Operating System Because It Doesn't Have A Cd Rom............!

So...., External Cd Rom Will Cost £30/40
And Legit Operating System Will Be £100

Cheers.,

also you can install xp from a usb pen without to much hastle. ;)

How reliable would one of these be as a main computer?

My partner needs a new desktop for her proofreading business. We already have a monitor, so would only need a wireless mouse and keyboard to turn the netbook into a desktop and get the best of both worlds. But I must admit I'm a bit worried about the reliabilty of the netbook compared to a desktop.

We'd probably be running Word, Thunderbird and Firefox simultaenously.. nothing much more strenuous than that.

Please can anyone advise on the suitability of a netbook for this role?

i think the deal at pc world for £269.99 is beta as has o/s and 6 cell battery
#32
Almost the deal of the month but the second rate battery is a killer.

Hi guys,

I'm looking at either this or the dell mini 10v.. I've read that this is one of the best Netbooks around..

Spec-wise they seem to be the same, altough the Dell is cheaper + seems easier to get OS x on it.

Are there any more difference between these 2?
#34
best netbook money can buy heat added, I paid £310 a few month back. Well worth it though.
#35
mumbojumbo
It comes with XP!
Thanks,

The DELL has a 1024x576 where as the Samsung has 1024x600 (much better)
imo
#37
The keyboard on the Dell is not as good in terms of size and feel. Also battery life on the Samsung is far superior. I hope this helps.
#38
Thanks guys,

NC10 it is then :)

Cheers mate, would it be worth paying extra for the PC World 6-cell version?
