This was a bargain when Amazon had it at £100, £70 is amazing considering the specs!

7x Optical zoom and Optical image stabilisation are never found on cameras at this price level.

I'm buying mine...
reviews a bit mixed, but good price for spec
Very cheap for this beautifully designed camera, but reviews highlight below average image quality.
Great price ray ! :)

Choose excellent image quality with the NV7 OPS from Samsung! With a 7.2 mega pixel and a 1/2.5? CCD and 7x optical zoom this camera will astound you. It also uses the ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system and the brand new OPS (Optical Picture Stabilization) technology - unique to Samsung - for double anti-shake protection. OPS uses an Image Sensor Shift mechanism that moves the sensors in the opposite direction to the movement of the lens and corrects the shake. Along with the 1600 ISO sensitivity, this stabilising technology will let you take well exposed, sharper pictures in low light without using a flash at all. In effect, with the NV7 OPS you'll never have to deal with blurred images again! The user-friendly NV7 OPS has a new intuitive interface for enhanced control and smooth navigation, not to mention 11 scene modes, multiple means for recharging, in-built video editing functions and a sleek, attractive design. Get ready to be wowed by the NV7 OPS!
Price seems ok, but this got a very good review in Computer Shopper recently as a very good Compact Digital Camera. Heat added

Actually upon double checking the review was for the NV8 not NV7 here sorry.
A little dated now but a great price!

Just read that, image quality is the only let down. That put me off, but for the price its a good buy.
Isn't image quality rather important in a camera?
i would have thought so lol
Poor lense on it, also LOL at 'TV quality MPEG-4 30 fps movie recording'
Also what sort of image stabilizer does it have on it? some camera cheat by just upping the iso, in which case it's hardly image stabilization!!
The word "optical" might give you a clue there...
Can't make my mind up on this one. Thinking of either this or the Ricoh Caplio R7 which is better but double the price...
This is the one of the worst cameras ever. IMHO, many mobiles phones do better.
Poor lense on it, also LOL at 'TV quality MPEG-4 30 fps movie recording'

hmmm the 'lense' (sic) seems to be excellent according to the reviews, the problem seems to be the image processing.

Obviously nitpicking here as the end result is a sub-optimal image but this is still a great price for a compact unit with 7x optical zoom producing 'reasonable' images.
Don't mess around if you want a nice camera with good images just go and buy a Nikon, Canon, Sony compact...all will have reasonable lenses with proven image processing and give more than enough results for most family snappers. Price will be comparable to this or little more. The cameras from historical camera makers as a rule always seem to perform better.
Please make sure you read the write ups for this camera before you buy-very poor reviews
OMG! I was looking at this the other day..and was considering it when it was £100. Now that i saw it for £70 I thought its almost a definite buy until I see everyone sort of slating it..I dont know now! Someone help?

I just want a nice cam that will take good quality pics when going out with mates and things like that...but then I need a good enough cam to take pics for my digital media work...

ps. do not have the money for an SLR
ok so i just read this review about the image quality..

and i doubt i'll be buying. still a v good price tho seeming as I was considering buyin it for £100

still - any advice will be handy??
oh but it jus looks so sexy! gosh here i am talkin to myself.....
This is the one of the worst cameras ever. IMHO, many mobiles phones do better.

I am with Orange - and this camera probably has better reception and is more reliable than my phone. :whistling:

Its a good price for a 7 times optical zoom though - and if used as a webcam could make your nose a star! :w00t::w00t:

I guess this will prompt a rush from all those who like to have things appear larger on webcam!!!!!! :whistling::whistling:
It's the person behind the camera that makes a photo what it is, not the equipment. Sure, it helps to have a nice camera to work with but if you know the basics, this camera is really decent.. especially for the price.
