Vodafone are offering the Samsung omnia phone free on 12 month contracts.
Cheapest start at just £35 per month. This may not seem a very good deal but Quidco are currently offering £150 cashback on the omnia with vodafone until Monday only

So for the full term of 12 months it will cost

£35 x 12 = £420 less quidco £270 divided by 12 = £22.50 per month

If you clear your cookies ( this makes sure your quidco will track)
Join Quidco
Click through to vodafone form Quidco site once logged on

If it doesn't track (97% do ok) then submit a query make sure you have any order numbers for the claim.

£150 in you account in about 3 months time this will transfer into your bank account

so if it doesnt track... then will they still gimme the cashback???

According to the Quidco site;
Of Vodafone sales, 97% of items are tracked, with 3% enquiries of which 36% successful so far.
Follow the above posters advice and you should be okay, if it dosn't track then ultimately its down to the retailer's discretion.
In 2 years I've had Citibank not payup, although it tracked, and HSBC credit card, again although it tracked and I sent them proof of card etc, the skinflints didn't pay.
However I've made almost £2,000 in that time, so I'm hardly going to cry.

Only if they can 'win' the query. I have won one out of 5, with one going over to nearly a year so far.

I ordered one this morning, and quidco hasn't tracked yet, so if it hasn't tracked overnight, I'm going to cancel as this is only good for the quidco cash.
#8
i think this offer is not bad even widout the quidco....
£420 for omnia is gr8 isnt it??

Yes, 3G as opposed to HSDPA, no VGA, no AVI/DivX/Xvid, rubbish camera but very pretty looking.

Planet 2005 me thinks

You forgot no front facing camera making video calls kinda hard ;)
Add the Onmia plays many more audio codecs than the iPhone is capable of - meaning all my ogg music is now portable.

Sadly I got mine a couple months ago on vodafone at £35 a month for 18 months... and i forgot quidco :(

Now I feel stupid.
#13
i already ordered one.... i think its a gr8 offer....

now waiting to see if quidco tracks it....my first time on quidco....

anyone ordered it and got quidco yet???

#16
It probably says on Quidcos website.
#17
I've had Vodafone pay quidco no problem on my mobile broadband deal. It's worth a punt I think :)
#18
It's so so soooooo Great Deals!
I got it a couple of days ago, but the cash back was 90,not 150! I should wait for this deal!
However, This is a big chance.

Anyone know if this is the 8GB or 16GB version? Can't seem to see this being explicitly stated on the website...?

Will only be the 8GB version, as Orange have the 16GB as an exclusive.

Hi!,

I can't really comment on the deal as I already have the omnia, which I managed to get from ebay (brand new unbranded) for just over £200 (due to a 20% off anything voucher I received from ebay).

The phone is fantasitc and imho much better than the iphone (which my missus has). Basically it can pretty much do anything the iphone can do with added apps, it also has a built in gps that can be used by tomtom, garmin or igo, aswell as the pre-installed google maps. It has a 5 megapixel camera which is much better than iphone, however compared to other a stand alone camera it falls a little short.

I upgraded from an N95, and have never looked back. It does everything you need plus more. Iphone is great if you demand little of your phone, but if you are a gadget freak like myself, get the omnia, it does the lot!

Dave.

Don't forget you get a FREE Bluetooth headset using voucher code: vodablue1

It appears that with the 12 month contract you don't get Unlimited Mobile Internet & Email (as you do with the 18 month contract) :-(
#23
just checked..... has tracked it at £90... just as mentioned on quidco....hope it gets validated at 150£.... cheers....

has yours tracked yet?

i did not use the code..... thought it mite mess up my cashback.....not too interested in the bluetooth headset aswell....

cheers..

you are kidding, think you are ina minortiy.....the omnia is nowhere near as good as the iphone 3g 16gb....i have both phones......the touchscreen on the onmia is laughably unresponsive, it has awful firmware, i assume symbian...

its s nice looking phone though, still prefer my iphone 3g (the iphone isnt perfect though with apple's idoitic enryption, no voice dialling (why not, apple!?)...and its not yet possible to charge and play through a car stereo at the same time, its either or using a proper cable - dont use the ****** fm transmitters if you like decent sound, dont bother!)

with the iphone you can download loads of apps, music, radio, games etc free or paid for...some good some bad. Texting is a godsend on teh iphone rather than using the god awful T9 predictive texting...as for the camera, who cares -all phone cameras are terrible

the iphone is awesome for surfing, though like any phone it works better with 3g or to a limited extent with Edge...navigation is good and screen is just right size (which is a tiny bit big for a phone, so a bit of compromise), the motion part of the phone is quite handy too for the internet (not quite the gimmick i though it was)

the omnia is miles better than the massively overrated n95 (highest failure rate of any mobile phone - in fact at vodafone the failure rate was greater than all the other phones put together!)

but saying the omnia is better than the iphone 3g, is like saying a citroen saxo is better than a lambo, ferrari, koneseggwhatucallit
#26
note that the 12 month deal doesnt include unlimited internet surfing/data - guess depends how much data you expect to use
#27
I would say this was a great deal if it wasn't on Vodafone. I had a play with the Omnia at Vodafone and the touchsreeen was awful, very slow and unressponsive. However i had a play on a Orange or O2 one cant remeber which and it was amazing!!!

By branding the phone with all vodaphone software it has totally spoilt the phone so just beware when considering this deal!!
#28
Omnia has all the potential but like nearly every samsung falls down at the user experience level. cheap lastics a non VGA screen and the widget bar thing is **** and generally you should either go for the iphone if camera doesnt matter (safari web browsing still miles better) or htc touch diamond.... or wait to get your hands on the google phone (another htc masterpiece).

agreed, but hey at last the manufacturers are starting to listen to people.....we dont all want T9 SMS (each key on the phone keypad represents several characters, meaning a qwerty sizes keyboard isnt needed) you know and nor do we want to speak like some dumb idiot "are ya wiv me" chav muppet...with my iphone i can send a 20 word text in less than 10 secs...with T9 phones i didnt bother send SMS' as it was quicker to call

[COLOR="Red"]of course, there are a lot of positives about the iphone - the music (that is DRM) and it has a great UI. It certainly helped bring the User Interfaces in to the 21st century, but apart from that, it is pretty much rubbish unless all you want is to listen to music. To call the iphone a phone for business people is just laughable.

If quidco doesn't track, can you send the phone back? I wouldn't be prepared to pay the full amount for it. Sorry, I'm new to quidco. Anyone in Swindon want to help me? Haha.
#33
The IPhone might be an ok phone and compete well with the Omnia in certain areas, but in other areas it falls flat on it's face - but at £45 month it's massively overpriced - just like all Apple products. People fall for the brand and advertising - like sheep they follow the crowd and feel the need to defend there decision to spend a ridiculous amount on a product that turns out not as good as the hype.

If you want a phone at a good price, that can easily keep up and exceed the IPhone, this is great

PS - If you have a business, you can get this on Vodaphone Business for slightly cheaper £21.46 (even though the cashback is less - £100, the phone is actually cheaper per month £29.79 (for a change) than normal Vodaphone £35. And if you have a business you will know you can claim this against your Corp Tax, making it about £16.95 a month!
#34
I got as far as 'Windows Mobile 6.1' when reading that review. Enough said.
#35
Once the quidco has TRACKED, does that mean you're almost guaranteed to get the money? If so, when do you get the money?

I don't think the phone is worth £420, but it is worth £270.
#36
How long does it take for it to move from tracked to validated? At least then I'll know I'm getting the money, even if I have to wait 3 months for it.
#37
I own this for about a month now. I think this phone is great. Although I have to admit that texting is a nightmare but the window mobile 6.1 did its job very well. My Omnia is running smoothly and vodafone now have a new firmware that solved most of the bug problems in the past.

Too bad that I ordered it a month ago when the cashback is only £90. It took me about 3-4 weeks to get the cashback validated so I think it shouldn't be a problem to get the cashback money.

stphnstevey - I think the £29.79 per month in business plan does not including the vat tax. So it will still be £35 per month as well.

Yes, why use a product that has been tried and tested and is compatible with millions of 3rd party applications?

Much more sensible to stop reading articles so that you you can keep your prejudices instead of dealing with facts.
#39
even if the iphone is the better phone you got to look at the price differnce £45 a month v £22.50
#40
and this is 12 months iphone is 18
