First of all this is my first deal, which I thought wasn't bad but there have probably been better ones out there.

In Newcastle (to my knowledge) you got the surround sound and subwoofer free too!

The TV is more expensive everywhere listed here (http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Samsung+PS51D6900D+Plasma+3D+TV%2C+51%22#q=Samsung+PS51D6900D+Plasma+3D+TV%2C+51%22&hl=en&sa=X&tbs=p_ord:p&tbm=shop&prmd=ivns&ei=4kX2TcT_EYzm-gaL_qzXBg&ved=0CAoQuw0oAQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=45db57b78e0b3c5c&biw=1366&bih=643) so as far as i know this isn't a bad deal at all!

Also as far as i'm aware the offer expires on the 30th June (said this in store). I don't know whether the speakers were store specific or if they were even part of the deal, but they weren't listed separately and looked like part of the BR player.

while you're at it you may as well look at this first http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pt-photo-frame-clock-family-time-brushed-aluminium-silver-large-now-9-75-amazon/957399
what you're suggesting is not 3d and smaller, so not really a comparison either
#3
@horacevankhute No 3D Blu Ray player, no 3D glasses and smaller...
Yeah pretty much what Robinsad said...

I wouldn't mind if you gave a better deal of the same type but you suggested a completely different thing with less to offer.

Correct. The deal can be gotten online but I was in store when I originally saw it, and local John Lewis's would have to be checked.

What an enormous waste of money for what is, in my opinion, a fad of this decade.

I got a 50" Samsung, PS50C690 (i think) + 3 Glasses + 5 year warranty + Blu Ray + All 4 Shrek 3D films for £1,075 just after Christmas. This is similar in value, i wish i would of got this instead actually. Good find.

You can account that to >= 60% of all consumerism.

horace mate i used to work at a sony centre and that TV is rubbish!

its worse than the EX503, the LED tech is implemented soo badly on it...

the NX or HX range are a lot better and can be had for the same price... hang you head..
#20
btw no doubt in my mind if i was buying a TV right now and had a decent budget like this i would be buying a Samsung d8000 or higher

you'd only get a 40" for this price but there the best looking things on the market

on a different note 3d is dump

a vastly superior set to this one, very good looking, has wifi built in which is great, nice to have 100hz, i dont know how much anyone can really notice any other riddiculous differences on top

great colour reproduction expecially from an LED, really nice and thin its a great set!

would still rather have the new samsung d8000 or d9000 though there nice imo,

one of the best TV's i have seen was sony's HX903 from last year they did a 52 full LED backlit (not edge lit) was £3,000 mind but the contrasts in that were unreal

some of the nx713 suffer a bit from a bit of bleed near the edges sumtimes (varys among the sets) but its generally minor and if you get a good one happy days

p.s im sat in front of a pioneer plasma right now, jsut so people dont htink im bumming sony of LED

the hx903 is a cracking set but lacking the beautiful monolithic design of the 46nx713

Agreed that Pioneer have made some great TVs but they dont make them anymore
#24
the hx903 has monolithic panel.. its the hx803 that didnt but its not as thin as the nx713, its kinda on its own the hx903, even better than sonys LX.. these are all 2010 models though dont think sony are going to do anything with better picture aulity this year

the pioneer came as part of the furniture in the flat, but i own a crappy little LG LED set, it looks allright i dont have much budget for a lot else

Stay clear of ANY LCD/LED screen especially 3D- You will get bad cross talk due to the slow speed the screen reacts to a new image (left eye then right eye)

Look at the new Panasonic Plasma screens - they are SO much better than this junk...
#26
glasses needed 3d will die a slow painful death, simple as really, so any 3d set is cold imo.

when the new 3d with no needed glasses arrive, then quite possibily it will take off, but cant see this 3d with all its faults lasting to long, its a fad for now

3d tvs without glasses are a long way off, things that currently use that technology, ie 3ds, fuji w3 camera rely on the user being square to the picture, you cannot view them from any other angle and so tvs won't work because we need to view them from multiple angles

oh its a while away yet, but as i havent seen one i cant comment if it will succeed or not, glasses 3d will 100% fail imo
how many times has it been tried b4 and how many times has it failed to take off, well everytime, its a gimmick for tv companies to get us buying sets while they look for next tech, ie no glasses 3d

3d tv's remind me of microsofts HD dvd, one died a slow painful death, and so will the other imo. if im wrong i b first to stick me hands up, but would bet my house onit, well if i had one, lolol

3D tv's have already been more succesful than hddvd's, they never really took off, not... really sure what you mean by how many times it's been tried because as far as i know this is the first time 3D tv's have been available commercially and i think they are here to stay, the fact that the bbc have now got involved in 3D broadcasting says a lot and i'm looking forward to seeing wimbledon in 3D

More and more broadcasters will slowly start showing 3D programmes and i can see it being here for a while, but as i said glasses les 3d tv is years away yet

personally cant see it taking off, ppl just wont all gather round with adrian mole specs on to watch tv, yes no glasses 3d mite be while away and it mite not be suited to big screen tv for yrs, tosh started ball rolling with no glasses on a small screen last yr and flaws need ironing out, what im saying is that no glasses would stand more of a chance to succeeding, personally imo its just a fad

anyway we all have different opinions

59" version at Costco for £1319.98, although first person to purchase has reported it scanned at £1249.98. Even without 3D its competitive price for a set that size.

Tempted, I could sell the BR player as I have a PS3. There's no indication of it coming with sub and speakers though. Please let us all know if any of you try to buy this in store.
