The Samsung PS42b430 marries stunning good looks with a full spec and great value price.

Colour Enhancer 3 gives greater realism with brighter colour and enhanced colour scale. Once again, Samsung's unique DNIe + picture enhancement system features strongly and combines with 100Hz technology to give clarity, depth and smooth motion. Combined together these powerful processors help to give the Samsung PS-42B430 a stunning dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1!

Although no match for a separates system, the PS42b430 boasts a comprehensive audio specification. SRS TruSurround HD offers high quality surround sound effect processing which you'll usually only find on much more expensive TVs. Combined with the Down firing speaker system you'll find it gives the Samsung PS42b430p a smooth, spacious sound that's less boxy-sounding than many TVs. Finally, if you're planning to use this plasma TV as part of your home cinema system, then you'll be pleased to find an optical digital output - perfect for the highest quality audio connection to your AV receiver.

In terms of connections, the PS42b430 has everything you'd expect plus more besides. Twin rear-mounted HDMIs allow for the connection of 2 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box and Blu-ray. In addition to this, the PS42b430 boasts SCART and component connections for your analogue sources.

Samsung were one of the first TV companies to offer a deep, gloss black finish with curved edges throughout their range and, even today, there are few that do it better. The PS42b430 is still one of the best looking TVs in its class.

Good-looking, packed with features and better performing than ever, the Samsung PS42b430 is set to take the budget plasma market by storm!

Also, the PS42b450 at £439.95.

For £100 more at Play you can get a 40 inch _full_ HD screen so I really don't think the price is justified. COLD.

Which will be nothing like the picture quality, given it'll be an LCD with rubbish contrast and colours (both of which are far more important than resolution).

It's £100 cheaper, and the cheapest that model comes. Maybe that's why its hot?

Otherwise you may as well say why buy a ford when you can buy a ferrari. Always something better for more money.

Are you sure the Play offer has 100Hz technology too? Think £400 for a HD-ready 42" plasma is pretty good :)
#5
The only issue I have is that you will have to collect it. Better get that 50-inch Plasma Panny from Very for £430 including delivery

So 25% more expensive, smaller screen and not a Plasma. Now thats a fair comparison?! Full HD means nothing if you are going to watch SD most of the time.

I notice their seems to be a lot of jealousy on this site. When a poster finds a decent deal there is usually someone that comes along to put it down for a totally stupid reason.

And I have to say it's normally the ones with a lot of heat under their name.

Also if you aren't going to sit pretty damn close and don't have excellent vision. People just don't realise/can't comprehend the fact that it will be difficult to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on regular-sized screens at regular distances. It's fair enough, though.

depends on your price point, it usually runs from pioneer to panasonic, the pion will cost 2k+ more likely 3k for 42", the panny will be about 700-900 for 42" plasma. I plumbed for a panny last year got a price match from j lewis for a shade over 800, mind this year they doing some great prices on teles at 700-750 with bd player too and 5 year warranty. Be aware, start of jan vat goes back up so maybe a plan to buy now. Hope it helps.

I've been looking for a tv for a while. Mostly for xbox and dvd's but also some regular tv. If i got this it wouldn't be hooked up to a proper aerial or cable tv, so what sort of picture quality would i get through the inbuilt freeview and a portable aerial? Is there any point getting a tv of this quality?

Hope someone can help :)

My Panny none 1080p plasma does me fine for Sky HD and Blu-ray

Heat added, an absolute steal

Can anyone help me with tips for cleaning these glossy black TV's. Mine seems to attract dust like a magnet, and using the supplied cloth all I do is move the dust about. What you you guys and gals use to keep yours from gathering dust 24/7?
banned#26
I just wipe mine with a damp microfiber cloth. then buff up with a dry microfiber cloth.
